The whole of popular music wouldn't be same without Prince.

Stupid list made by a lazy intern, published in the hope it will get a few clicks.
"I'll get the obvious successful black acts from the last decade (they're the only ones I heard of anyway),
and throw in a whitey for good measure".
Fuck this kind of ignoramus lame slacker shit.

A serious article would start with how much his minimalism, his use of the Linn,
his DIY ethos influenced a great deal of the Chicago House Music movement and Bristol's Trip hop.
How much 1999 alone influenced electronica for two decades.

Or how he single-handedly popularized the home-studio phenomenon, from which musical instruments makers made a fortune.
Or how he brought back oneiric and esoteric qualities in pop at a time when it was all perms and poses,
changing the way pop is approached, setting new ethics for all the nineties with Parade, SOTT and Lovesexy.

He raised the bar for everyone, not just 21 bozos which two thirds barely qualify as "artists".

I agree articles like this are usually whack! They need to hire people who really know about music not something they can find with a quick google search
