Possible Producers: how about Beck or Me'Shell?

It would be interesting, no doubt.

For remixes, what about Blue Six, Jazzanova or DJ Mark Farina?

No producers please.

But as the worst Prince tracks are the club flavoured ones (e.g. The Human Body, New World, Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic) I would really want guys like Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk (the Crydamoure and Roulé crews), Bob Sinclar, Demon, Alex Gopher or Cassius to remix Prince´s stuff.

Agreed.

Meshell has said, in essence, that she doesn't have the ego it takes to be a producer. This was years ago, so I don't know if she has changed her mind or not.

Come on, y'all! disbelief

Wouldn't it be cool for once for him to bring someone else in behind the boards? He's so experimental in every other aspect of his music, but not so adventurous that he'd trust someone else to produce.

Miles had Gil. Trane had Bob. Billy wrote for Duke. Eno, I think, produced the Police. Many of the greats had great producers. Not to compare Beck or Me'Shell to those producing legends, I'm . . . just . . . SAYIN . . .

wouldn't y'all dig that for a change? music

Great remix ideas! Bob, Alex, Cassius Owwweee!! biggrin

I would like to see what Prince could do with Felix.

Prince has something real nice going with 1999, and I love so much of Prince's music, but I would LOVE to hear another electro album!! biggrin

Not that I would have any choice, since it's not up to me; but I'd be too apprehensive that Prince's own idiosyncrasies would be watered down and buried when it comes to his vision. If you ask me, Prince's main problem was lack of motivation, at one time.

Miles had Gil. Trane had Bob. Billy wrote for Duke. Eno, I think, produced the Police. Many of the greats had great producers. Not to compare Beck or Me'Shell to those producing legends, I'm . . . just . . . SAYIN . . .

Producing a jazz recording is an apples/oranges thing when compared to a rock/r&b/pop/etc. recording. Especially when talking about those you mentioned.

No doubt, but my point is that great artists of ANY genre have often been backed by great producers.

Also, if anyone has watered down Prince's sound or vision, it's Prince. IMHO, he got scared after Lovesexy flopped commercially and for years, his albums as a WHOLE seemed to be somewhat watered down.

Of course, that's one beholder's opinion.

I agree witcha. I would like to see Prince let someone else produce him at least once just to hear the end result.
