Fathers song release I was really dissapointed with the release of fathers song on the purple rain deluxe edition. I thought it was going to be a really enhanced version of the performace from the film but its so different I just dont think its as good anyone else feel the same? I'm just like everybody else I need love.....and water. | |

Not at all. I love every second of it. Hopefully we will get the version from the film at some point, but the one in PR Deluxe is absolutely stunning. | |

I think it's lovely. It's more than I thought it would be, but I'm glad it's not some blown-out tune like other stuff from that period (not that those are bad things). It's a tender song, and was treated well in production. "  don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r." |

I'm with you on this one. Although its nice to have the original recording, the beautiful chord changes he made to it for the film edit made it more interesting and gave it a needed bridge that the original lacks. I wish he would have played it live in the years after Purple Rain but he never did as far as i know. | |
