When / What Was Prince's Last Great Guitar Solo? This may seem like a weird question, but as a fan of Prince's guitar playing, I was thinking about this over the last few days.
I'm on record as a huge fan of the second Chicago concert in 2012, mostly because Prince's guitar playing was incendiary that night. He was just turning in solo after solo that was lengthy, fluid and focused.
By the the time 3rdEyeGirl got started, I felt like he was giving a lot of solos over to Donna more and more as time went on, and his guitar playing gradually less exciting; the last solo I remember really enjoying was the Manchester '14 "Something in the Water."
So with that in mind, what are some solos from 2014-15 to be on the lookout for?
(Also, somewhat unrelated: were the Chicago 2012 shows the last time Prince played the "Purple Rain" solo? After 2013 he switched to that more understated, piano driven arrangement, correct?)

Prince solo'd on purple rain for 10+ minutes in Toronto 2015. Epic. Also slayed during The One.

how would most of us know? we didn't have that much access to live performances before he died and we don't have that much of his last performances now. His playing was usually great so i guess I don't understand the question. Are you one of these people who think he just only played well when he felt like it?
