During the Purple Rain Tour version of Little Red Corvette who else LOVE'S Lisa's Synth Counter Melody??? In the long intro...the counter-melody that Lisa's plays over the 'breathing' synths...
EXQUISITE. [Edited 12/31/17 9:24am] |

I loved it too, but I had always assumed that Prince composed that and had her play it, it's similar to his piano playing. I wouldn't know though. I do know his playing in the SOTT movie of Little Red Corvette kinda has a similar vibe. |

Lisa was a cords composer, and Prince's used her playing which complimented his style, a lot.
I love the story of when she first auditioned for the band.
he sounded like Bill Evans or Lisa [Coleman], who also had this way of playing chords that were so perfect.
Lisa was never an explosive keyboard player, but she was a master of color in her harmonies; I could sing off of what she had with straight soul. -Prince |

I love that version of Little Red Corvette, her playing on that song opening it up and the added build during the middle took that song to a place of mystery |

she very well could have, but to me, the counterpoint melody was more like how prince played piano and he wasn't above telling people to play exactly what he wanted. we'd have to do something we'll probably never get a chance to do, ask her. |
