Yes. I think (my thoughts only) that the early rejection by his father and lack of warmth to him shown by his mother caused emotional hurts that were never healed. He retreated to the only space that never threw him out, never put him down, a space of safety....his music.

Sorry dodger to hear u lost your mother. I also lost my mother in 2015 to dementia. There is not a day go by that I don't think of her. Sometime I cry when listening 2 this song. I totally loved when Prince and Wendy did this on the Tavis Smiley show.
