I am still confused how there actions do not void the agreement they made not to contest the will.
Unless by using copyright law they have sided stepped the agreement they signed.
I wonder what implications this would have on the four albums that Prince assigend DreamCorps.
Since the estate still owns the songs and just assigned the royalties per some agreement.
I just do not understand how anyone could want to defund a charity and go against their fathers wishes when they knew about this before he even passed away. |

I will check it out. I actually have been following JB and Ray Charles's estates. They both had wills and look at what the stupid relatives have been doing.
Ray Charles's children are trying to stop the bulk of his money from going to charity despite the fact that they are got 1 million dollars. Even getting money did not stop them from trying to stop the royalties from going to charity by saying as heirs the royatlties should go to them due to copyright laws.
I do not care what any of you say Prince knew how those older sibs were going to cut up after his dad died so he let the court handle it. Sure money will be lost to taxes but so what he will not be here to deal with it. They have to deal with it and since they did nothhing to earn it in the first place so be it.
He had contracts in place that are going to make things go his way for a while and their is nothing his sibs can do about it. WB has the rights to license those soundtracks forever and I doubt that will ever change.
I will take a stupid hologram every now and then over the sibs selling his music off in a fire sale to line their pockets. Why do you think they keep screaming for money? They know they will never be able to find a buyer for the whole catalogue if the buyers cannot get all of the albums.
Prince knew what was doing. In addtion, they cannot even get the royalties from at least the last two albums and who knows were he assigend other royalties to.
I am glad the court is handling things and people like LM are not getting their grubby hands on anything and it looks like the estate got a fair judge who knows con artist when he see them.
Four Albums....AOA HITNRUN 1&2 and PLECTRUMELECTRUM..
That is so cool. It is too bad Ray Charles and James Brown did not do this rather then trying to get it done via a will. [Edited 2/6/18 5:00am] [Edited 2/6/18 10:17am] His last 4 albums released since 2014 when he started losing weight....looks like he was making plans and knew he would not need the $? |

It is odd that SNJ is still without counsel.
That means either SNJ fired their attorney or their attorney fired them.
Or they mutually fired each other.
Whatever happened, happened suddenly.
Normally, if you are going to fire your attorney you have one waiting in the wings and a
Substitution of Counsel is filed just like Tyka did recently.
This way you are never without counsel.
Anywhoo... |

Something was going on. I want to believe it was illness and not just the combonation of pain, meds and maybe being sick and tired of dealing with that. Long term health issues can make people extremly depressed.

I saw him on the last night of his three-night stand at Mohegan Sun in 2013. It was December 29, IIRC. The concerts were advertised to be like one of the PP houseparties. He wasn't terribly active that night (I was so disappointed - I expected a full-blown Prince concert/he was like a DJ - and he was supposed to be at an after-party (for which attendees paid a lot of money) and he dropped by for literally minutes, according to reports, then left. I remember he climbed up onto something on the right side of the stage and it seemed like it took a lot of effort to get there. And he was so thin. I, too, think something had started by then, but who knew to look for anything. |

suing for wrongful death???

In October 2017 Hansen brought in Skolnick & Joyce which prepared the filing to remove Coamerica as Special Administrator. Now, Hansen has withdrawn. The Hansen firm has 11 attorneys and the Skolnick firm has only 4 attorneys. In a case so complex, SNJ is seriously underrepresented. I could see Hansen withdrawing for a number of reasons...difficult client taking up all their time, loss of other clients, interference from someone (LM) and not getting paid. |

Like I said before, doesn't look the family even knows what happened to him.
the trustees for Prince's next-of-kin have filed a civil motion in Carver County hoping to compel investigators to produce all information in their possession when it comes to the death of the Minnesota music icon in April 2016.
The motion - directed at the Carver County Sheriff's Department, the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office and the Ramsey County Attorney's Office - was filed after the trustees say the county denied their request for investigative data, stating dual state and federal investigations remain active, making the information still classified.
But the trustees say the information is needed so they can determine whether or not to commence a wrongful death lawsuit in the matter.
The motion states the trustees seek a "very narrow disclosure. They ask only for disclosure of the data to their attorneys. Their attorneys will not disclose any of the information to anyone absent a court order."
It argues the court has "broad discretion to enter a protective order to that effect."
The motion also argues the information must be released because, as the surviving siblings of Prince, the trustees are victims.

I am assuming it is Comerica or maybe one of the lawyers for the sibs. Next of kin is really broad. It could be anyone related to Prince. I do know that the rumor about a malpratice suit from the fall of 2016 came from a private Facebook group.
A person was in MN visting doing the tribute concert and they claim that they were told this by family members. It seemed far featched to me at the time but we now know that some family members having been talking.
This would also explain Charles's behavior. He thinks the sibs are hiding something when in fact they really do not know much about the investigation at all.

I searched and cannot find anything filed in Carver County courts.
So maybe it was filed in Federal Court.

Oh, the surviving siblings, which could be any combination of the 6. The wording is confusing given all the court filings of those who feel they should be named "next-of-kin", without a name that could be anybody filing a suit. Anybody can go to a courthouse and file papers.

So far none of the crazies are next of kin accept the distance cousins from Louisanna and Arkansas.
They can not inherit anything but they are next of kin I suppose. I hope this is not another PC like attorney dragging some distant relative in just to stir up trouble.

Unfortunatly, the way this is worded it does sound like the are saying " We are victims of a finanical loss because our brother died"
It should be we feel someone should be held accountable for his death. |

Are you speaking about the motion in relation to a wrongful death suit?
Wrongful death attorneys work on a contingency basis so there are no up front fees.
The attorney takes 1/3 of the settlement or judgment in a wrongful death case. |
