It is not the country.

It is the system.

The same system that lead to the opioid pandemic that Prince suffered from.

It is not a knock.

It is a matter of fact.

Now please povide more info on the argumentatioj that Carver county can use against opioid companies in your country.

How clueless are you? We have no idea if the same pills he took on the plane were taken at PP? He asked everyone to leave PP and took the cameras out of the building. What makes you think he did no take those pills because he was in pain from either withdrawals , joint pain or an illness.

It is not a question of someone taking them from him if he needed them or was going to die anyway.

You are discounting a lot of factors to make it about people around him being solely responsible for the stituation. Things could have been beyond anyone's control.

Illness sometimes is going to do what is going to do and nothing can be done.

Back off Laura. I didn't say anything or was being judgemental about his issues with his pain and the use of pills. I simply stated that I cannot understand why, after he officially died on that airplane from ingesting those pills, that either he or someone in his inner circle didn't get rid of the pills that he took on the plane and replaced them with others. Obviously they all knew what had happened on the plane and yet steps weren't taken to prevent it from happening again? What's wrong with that picture? Of course I don't know as I wasn't there- maybe they did get rid of those pills and got another bottle of them and he ended up dying from the new pills anyway. I don't know. Neither do you.

Years ago many states sued big tobacco and won. The money can be used for drug treatment. These counties and states simply cannot handle the crisis which was manufactured by the Pharma industry.

Have the possibility that Prince got his mis-stamped drugs from the dark web been investigated? It seems most people are focused on finding a pusher in a hoodie or trench coat when Prince could have easily gotten his pills online and delivered in the mail. The New York Times ran a piece on this. Opioids are purchased in China and pressed into pills mislabeled to keep everyone but the customer in the dark about their controlled substance use. Unfortunately, this scenario fits the pills found at Paisley Park.

Yes, you are right. Why live with pain, if you can take a pill? After trying everything they could for my husband to get him out of pain, the pain specialists told us, try this, it has turned out to be a wonder pill...oxycontin. It was a wonder pill...until it wasn't.... I told the Dr, we have 3 small children, I'm worried about him getting addicted and having to deal with that. The Dr. said, "There is a difference between addiction and using it for pain". Well hubby used it exactly as prescribed, I kept it locked up in a safe and only I had the key. Never once did he run short or 'lose' a prescription. And of course he became addicted. Withdrawel symptoms are the same whether or not you use it for pain or recreation. Big Pharma lied and created this addiction, that has swept across the nation.

sad so sorry to hear this. Thoughts and prayers for your husband. We don’t hear enough stories like this and thus the general public thinks the problem is junkies who don’t have self control. I swear every time I see an article about the opioid epidemic on social media most of the comments are going after those affected either from those who don’t need medication and think others are willfully making poor choices or from those on medication (but not addicted) worried that their medication will be taken from them. This is wicked stuff and should be a lot harder for doctors to prescribe it.

That would be great though I’m sure there are cases where nothing but pills work. I remember reading a story about someone who had advocated for the use of opioids in the early 80s but it was only for those with terminal illness like cancer and adminstered in a hospital setting. The report was misinterpreted and the medical industry started advocating it for all kinds of things. Opioids are supposed to be for acute pain where they’re used for a short duration or for people with terminal illness or in hospice. The problem is they started to be used for chronic pain and the longer you use them the more your body builds up a tolerance and becomes immune to where you need stronger dosages and soon you’re addicted. You’d think if we can send a man to the moon and build robots to replace humans we could figure out a way to treat pain that doesn’t involve highly addictive medication. Hopefully it happens in your husbands lifetime.

Penny: I'm so sorry about what your husband is going through. I pray that he will be okay. We read/hear about this stuff every day in the news and it's very upsetting. I just read last week, some doctor in PA is going to prison for over-prescribing pain meds and he is being charged with murder. There is going to be a documentary on Lifetime about the Opiate epidemic in Atlanta. It's bad everywhere. These doctor's need to be educated in pain managment and not just pushing pills like they are tic-tacs for the big pharma. It's really disgusting what is going on.

.

My husband just went to the doctor for tennis elbow, and the doctor prescribed him something for the inflamation, and he didn't even want to take it. It wasn't percocet though.

What people don't understand is that doctors were assured these medications were safe and not to hesitate to use them. There was a big campaign going on in healthcare in the 80's and 90's about pain and treating it like the 5th vital sign - along with blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temp. There was a lot of emphasis put on evaluating pain and managing pain with the arrival of these aafe, effective drugs - specifically oxycontin. There are claims that the drug makers lied about and/or destroyed information that contradicted their claims about the safety and efficacy of the drug. Things spiraled out of conrrol from there. Claims of kickbacks for doctors, etc are unlikely as that soet of thing is strictly forbidden. None of the doctors i have ever worked for has received any sort of benefit from a drug co for using their product. Besides its not like the drug compan8es needed to "sell" their product to the providers who prescribed it. Those drugs sell themselves. They quickly became quite popular with patients who asked for them all the time.

.

Yes, that is true. It's widespread problem now that is spiraling out of control. So many people addicted, and they probably aren't getting good medical care.

Prince wasn't careful about what he was putting into his body because he's dead. One would think that after the incident in the plane when he died the first time that he would have gotten rid of whatever it was that he was taking or that whomever gave him those pills would have gotten rid of them for him. It's sad that noone including Prince tried to prevent what happened. Yes, I know that there was an intervention being planned but it was over a week after the first time he died. Too little, too late, too sad.

I believe that Prince was careful of what he put into his body. I also believe he trusted whomever was the source of the illegal Fentanyl, and he didn't think he was taking anything that would harm himself.

.

We don't have all the facts about what happened. All we know is that he died from illegal Fentanyl toxicity. We don't know how he obtained those pills or if he even knew what they were. They were mislabeled pills, thus the accidential overdose.

Exactly. What's going on with Kirk? If Dr. S was giving Prince pain pills via Kirk Johnson, then doesn't that make him an enabler, or did the investigators just dismiss that because the Doctor was protecting Prince's privacy?

The Doctor is adament that he wrote pain pills for Kirk not Prince. If Kirk gave his pills to Prince he is an enabler. He got an attorney who specializes in enabler drug cases. Wonder why?

Keep in my Dr. S still has his licence and is currently working at a clinic that specializes in joint pain for senior patients. Kirk according to Charles Smith is still under investigation.

If someone goes down who do you think it will be? I am sure the Doctor has charts and documentation concerning his treatment for Prince. I am sure the police and DEA have gatherd all of P's medical records going back to damm near childhood by this time. They know what his issues were and thus far no one in the medical communitiy has been charged which would be much eaiser then proving that Kirk gave Prince pills or that Kirk is on these pills as they would have Kirk's medical files by now.

We also have at least 3 people that have accused Kirk of lying about the stituation at Paisely Park.

I also do not know anyone that avoids and family and throws them shade a memorial service.

Why would Kirk need pain pills? None of this makes any sense, because why would Kirk need to pick up any Rx's at Walgreen's for Prince, when it was stated that Prince went to Walgreen's himself? All these stories for P's so-called inner-circle are starting to unravel, because nothing is holding up. It will be 3-years soon and this is beyond ridiculous!

Yes, why would Kirk need pain pills and if he was getting them for Prince. Why according to the Channel 4 BBC doc Prince four times in the year picking up pain meds at the Walgreens. Sounds like 90 day supply. Prince had to have been picking them up under an assumed name and maybe working with a different doctor but yet again the Walgreens was cleared of any wrong doing and no medical professionals are in trouble. I think the authorities know what happened and just do not have enough evidence. I think they are keeping the case open to make people sweat.

I don't know about MN, but in Missouri you can't pick up a 90 day supply of narcs, the most is only a 30 day supply.

Yes, but the clerks at Walgreen's said Prince walked-in and picked up his meds, so why would he need to have the Rx written in another name? I mean, everyone could tell it was PRINCE himself. Prince was known to be out and about and doing his own errands.

I agree; no one from Walgreen's or Dr. S. has been charged with any wrong-doing, otherwise, it would have been all over the news. Just the other week, some doctor in PA was charged with murder because he was over-prescribing pain meds and killed a guy. In the case of Prince, his doctors would be behind bars as we speak if they had done something illegal.

.

The last part......I agree. I think the authorities might be onto someone and they are waiting for them to slip-up. nod

I don't know about MN, but in Missouri you can't pick up a 90 day supply of narcs, the most is only a 30 day supply.

I hope people realize that people can and do take advantage of people who are ill.

Yes. My doctor gives me a 90-day supply of my meds, but something like Xanax, they will only give a few pills becuase they are highly-addictive. I guess the laws are different in MN.
