In MJ's defense, his 'brilliant' albums were especially brilliant. I'd say that the Black Album and Lovesexy are not even comparable to Off The Wall and Thriller. MJ also had the Destiny and Triumph albums under his belt. They're credited to 'The Jacksons', but almost entirely had Michael (during the Off The Wall/Thriller era) on lead vocals!! _ But even with that said, I agree that Prince is plenty more interesting. The nine albums you mentioned are all great - and that's just the beginning. Even his unreleased studio recordings were often of top notch quality. Also Prince was a whole different animal when performing live. MJ was good and all, but only Prince could shred a guitar. [Edited 12/25/17 16:34pm] What was that?

Can we just agree, that both artists made brilliant albums . Dirty Mind, 1999, PR, Parade, SOTT, Lovesexy, Symbol, TGE, OFTW, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, BODF and even 2/3 of Invincible are all genius albums that need to be in everyone's music collection. The fact remains that both Prince and Michael Jackson could sustain their excellence over a whole album, not just 2 or 3 hits and a lot of filler. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
