So honestly...

No one thinks the studio version of Electric Intercourse cannot compare to the live versions? eek

That was mentioned by the person who started the thread. Personally, I love the studio version of that one.

The studio version must be my most played song this year.

I really enjoy both. They are different enough to almost be two different songs. I prefer the studio version only because the audio is not particularly good on the boots.

Yes sure, but the live version has the better, longer, guitar solo which makes the song more epic to me.

But it also has the extra verse with the lines that make no sense biggrin

I like the cynisism of teh line.

1.

Something in the Water (Does Not Compute) - First Ave '84

This blues version with the guitar solos transformed the song for me, now it's an all-time favourite.

2.

Irresistible Bitch - First Ave '84/Purple Rain Tour

"One more time?" 'Yeah' "One more time?" 'Yeah!' "One more time!?" 'Yeah!' "Get down!!"

3.

All The Critics Love U In New York - First Ave '82

It was played with much more energy than the studio recording - and it certainly paid off.

4.

The Ballad Dorothy Parker - SOTT Rehearsals

I already loved the studio version, but this was simply smooth. See also: Strange Relationship '85.

5.

Basically any song from the Controversy album - Controversy Tour

All songs were played as if there was something to prove in this tour, even the 'filler tracks'. Again, it paid off.

What was that?

Aftershock!

Just got Prince4ever recently and heard studio version of Take Me With You for the 1st time. All I will say is so glad I heard live versions and film version 1st. When he sings it on his own it's wonderful.

So just about every other song performed live was just ramped up to sound even exquisitely better all except '7'.

Wonderful live rendition, the whole SOTT rehearsals. Something In The Water from the Bithday Show is great as well

I don't mind the cynicism, but it takes me right out of the song when he doesn't make sense. Which was presumably why it was removed.

My bad, i know the bootleg as the birthday show, which is a masterpiece, I hope someday that show to be released officially.
