The seven seals of the apocalypse from St. John's revelation.

From what I can recall...if ya watch the video, the '7' seems to refer to the images Prince put out in the past. With that video he was trying to cut his ties with what was and move one to the whole 'my name is ' phase.

It's been a while since I've seen it tho, so I could be mistaken

Can someone please explain to me what Prince is talking about in this song. Sorry, I'm lazy and don't feel like thinking.

I don't know what Prince had in mind but I always thought he was referring to the 7 heads of the dragon, which represent the 7 Gentile world kingdoms.

To understand it you must couple this with the message of Daniel, the prophet. The last kingdom is sometimes referred to by scholars of eschatology as a revived Roman empire. It corresponds to the feet of iron and clay...the image that King Nebuchadnezzar saw.

Once the 7 fall, the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ.

Maybe Prince was thinking of something entirely different however.

It's about The Book Of Revelation, but in the video it's all about the seven men that killed Mayte's father for dramatic purposes

Being that this is my fav song of all time . Now this princess goes to Prince for help & gives him the 3 chains . eventually at the end of the movie they show the 7 video & these men catch up with Prince & Mayte . Thus the 7 murderers are killed & victory reighns . On the Biblical side of the song , the is some paraphrasing going on . The first statement " and I saw an angel come down unto me " is a quote from Revalations but I cant remember where it is ( someone help me on that one ) . there were other refferances to biblical prophecey about end times mainley about Gods victory . But that was not the meat of the song in my opinion . Watch the 3cog video if u ever can find it , & this all will probabley make sence .

could be just about anything, the 7 deadly sins (tho i doubt that one sinc P has done his fair share of the nasty...) could be the 7 major record labels of the time, or even the industrialized nations of the (then) G7

we may never know

to me, the guitar sounds a bit like a Supertramp song.
can't place the title, though.

I thought it was about them staying locked...strong...no matter what...
