What if you could only own 5 Prince albums?

What if you could only own 5 Prince albums? Suppose there was new law saying you could only own 5 CDs of each artist in your collection.which 5 Prince albums would u choose to keep and why? I know this is a difficult and crazy question but I'm curious as to what everyone's answer will be.heres my 5 Prince albums I would keep and why. Also they can be hits compilations also

1.Purple Rain deluxe -because disc 1 is purple rain the album. Arguably Prince's best album and it's REMASTERED.i know the remastering got some negative reviews on here but it sounds great to me.Disc 2 is the rare unreleased songs. Studio version of electric intercourse! We can fuck full version and a haunting rendition of "father's song".Disc 4 is a DVD of purple rain concert.u can't go wrong picking this set
2.Batman Soundtrack-the very first Prince album I owned and the album that made me a fan.
3.The Hits/B-sides- great to have this because you get a collection of all the singles and favorites.even though they aren't the full versions
4.Crystal Ball-I'm a big fan of this set.its a nice collection of vault material.I love the humorous tracks like "Movie Star" and "Cloreen Bacon Skin".
5.Art Official Age-now this was a hard one.cuz I'm more a fan of Prince's later albums.i do love. Hitnrun phase 1 but I honestly believe "Art Official Age" is Prince's last best effort. I I think Prince tried his hardest with this album. This album was put out in 2014.prince waited 4 years to release it and it was his first album back with Warner Brothers.

Which 5 would you pick for yourself?
Keep in mind that you would be STUCK with these 5 Prince albums for the rest of your life!

For me that means no extended version of she's always in my hair,no joy in repetition, and no full version of "if I was your girlfriend"
sad

SOTT - Best 2xLP ever recorded... no need to explain further. Lost grammy to U2. History makes no sense.

PARADE - unique piece, a lot of new ideas... only for keen believers.

GRAFFITI BRIDGE - Album with a profound poetry and pop sweetness. Elephants & Flowers is essential Prince & Joy in Repetion is there, so...

EMANCIPATION - Album on which Prince lose control a little, due to grandiose idea on what album supposed to be (album he was born to make etc), but still it's a 3xcd of great ideas through the whole thing, ideas that maybe are not realized in a full potentional but still...

ART OFFICAL AGE - Futuristic Prince. Very bold album, man at the top of his game. From 'Way Back Home' to 'FunknRoll' - a classic Prince.

The very first Prince album I ever heard, it's literally the reason I became a Prince fan.

Purple Rain Deluxe
The Purple Rain album is perfect. The deluxe edition features some top quality extras so it's a no brainer.

Controversy
My favourite Prince album. That's all the reason I need to include it.

Hit'N'Run Phase Two
Contains some of my favourite songs of all time from any artist. I couldn't live without When She Comes, Revelation and Look At me, Look at u.

1999
The last spot could have gone to almost anything but the fact that 1999 has DMSR and Lady Cab Driver means it gets included here.

I didn't include any greatest hits collections because I think that's cheating. The Purple Rain Deluxe edition is kind of cheating too but I'm sure you wouldn't begrudge me that.

The Hits/ The B-Sides: Because DUH

1999: For the sheer length of it

Sign O The Times: For the sheer length and diversity of it.

The Gold Experience: Best 90s album, hands down

Controversy: It's a single disk with a lot of different stuff on it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Do Multi disc sets count as one album?

.

1. SOTT - Because, there ain't no because, human music can be summed up by this.

2. The Hits/Bside - Covers all the best bits of early poppy Prince

3. Purple Rain Deluxe - has bis biggest album and We can fuck on it, nuff said.

4. 1999 - Because it's hellafunky

5. Parade or Lovesexy, this is too hard sad

.

If we are allowed bootlegs

5. Perfect Unreleased Prince - 2cd set of perfectably remastered bootleg classics.

.

To be the honest, why the fuck would anyone pass that type of law, what purpose would it serve, people would bend it and start issuing albums with like 500 songs on them over 20 CDs or 3 day long downloads. For most artists, 5 albums would be easy to choose but I would struggle with Prince, MJ, George Michael, Elton John, David Bowie, Madonna and a few others.

I actually think it would be pretty easy to choose 5 George Michael albums. Especially considering he only had 5 albums. Unless you're including Wham albums but I think you'd get away with it if you were to classify them as two separate artists.

If I could own 10 albums I probably would have added the more recent albums The Rainbow Children and Art Official Age.

Hit N Run Phase 2 is a very close contender, due to 'Revelation' and other very high quality songs, but Love Symbol was the album I really got into Prince with after being introduced to him with Diamonds and Pearls when I was about 15.

Well.. it's difficult. But I will exclude albums like Hits/B-sides, as that is a collection. Might as well have a "Prince Anthology" 35 cd set and count it as one album smile

.

So, for me it's:

-Around The World In A Day - still my favorite, his statement that he was going to be an artist, rather than a star.

-The Rainbow Children - shame about the lyrics (Lovesexy has the same problem to a lesser extent, but the songs and sonics just don't work as well), but one of his best albums ever. Sonically great too, a problem on a lot of Prince's albums.

-Crystal Ball - the original album, before it was butchered into Sign Of The Times. (which is still great!)

-Parade - too many songs I could not do without

.

And then it becomes too difficult to pick just one. The Truth is nice, as it sounds so different from his other albums, but the songs on the whole aren't strong enough. The Family comes to mind, but officially it is not a Prince album, so I could still have that as well.. (5 per artist, right?) The same for the first Time album. Most of the later albums sounded more like a collection of songs than a cohesive statement, or maybe I was getting too old to really appreciate them properly. 3121 is great, but not great enough, for instance. So it is coming down to For You and Dirty Mind. Both are real albums, they both sound great and have great songs on them.. I guess I'll just go for the album that last longer.

.
