I've missed that. Do you have a link or more specific info? Thx
This is the interview to which I was referring. It was in 3 parts, each an hour long, and I believe he mentions the tracks in part 2.

I'd really love to know if that guitar vocoder or whatever is just monosyllabic vocalizations or they are actual lyrics.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

To hear Prince sing "I need seven inches or more" is really the holy grail.
Either that or "The Divine" or the version of "when doves cry" with bass
I'm pretty sure Prince wouldn't let Brown Mark make up his own bassline for When Doves Cry, so I would imagine the bassline on Live In Syracuse DVD is very close if not the same as what was removed from the studio version. In that case, I'd have removed it, too. Prince was right: it didn't work. |

Prince Nelson
Well, there's precedent. Prince's vocal version of Eye'll Never B Another Fool is out there.
First lyrics are:
"Ooh I'll never open my legs again/To a man who's insecure. I'll never open my legs again/Unless I'm really sure."

According to Duane's book, there are actual lyrics in Shortberry Strawcake, both distorted (possibly through a guitar pedal) and reversed, but other than saying that some of them had to do with "a dream he had based on his lover" there's no specific quotes from the lyrics themselves.

I've tried a few different ways, but I've never been able to make out any words. Great song though. I'd love me In A Spanish Villa instrumental as well.. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here! |

I think I'll try to come up with a bass line for that song. It would be interesting to see if what I come up with is anything like what Prince laid down.
What I'm really saying is, if I get within 100 miles of a bassline as funky as Prince's, I'll consider my life complete!
Isn't there a bass line for the Revolution live takes?
I have had the chance to chat with The Revolution back early this year....they answered to one of my question about WDC ...they confirmed there are an extended version of WDC & other takes in the Vault if i remember right !! |

Because of our humor. I mean seriously - can you lock a thread that has both Rusty Trumpet AND Brown Mark jokes in it?
I didn't think so.

We've already heard Prince sing the hook on the 'Hot Wit U' remix on RAVE IN2. This is one of the songs Prince gave to others that I'd be the least interested to hear his own vocal version of. I feel similarly about the bass version of 'When Doves Cry.' For me, the holy grail is simply albums and songs that I haven't heard yet and no-one in the Prince community even knows exists. I'm particularly interested in all the unreleased material from the last decade or so of Prince's life.
Yeah. I was gonna make mention of that. So, I guess my answer would be no. But I still thought it was pretty cool.

meanwhile, the lyrics to "playtime" are also quite something, when sung by prince himself and true love lives on lollipops and crisps |

Yes, I agree 100%
That would be INCREDIBLE!! I love what he was putting out and where he was going.
Then again, he was so creative, I don't think I can say that I or anyone knew where he was "going" in that creative musical mind of his that turned on decades ago and NEVER, ever shut off....Thank Goodness!!
There has to be a TON of stuff....somewhere. A preemptive "Thank You VERY Much" to whoever leaks it first.

Prince's version of "Sugar Walls" would be nice to have too
According to Duane's book,His version is exactly the same as Sheena Easton's version.he just removed his vocals then she added hers. It's already a awesome song, but I'm sure I would enjoy it even more with Prince's vocals
