Thinking about this album today, and it just occured to me that the titlle is pun on gold digger, and the album touches on various aspects of gold diggers, from the woman Tony M seduces in the club - Is that your car? You know it - to the old friend that comes up at the end looking for a hand out, to the record industry.

Probably obvious to others, but I'd never thought about that aspect of it - I guess it does give a thematic unity to it. Maybe that pink outfit Tony M wears on the cover kind of shocks the brain from having any thought about the contents of the disc.

Maybe Prince was adding another level to it as well by having Tony M as the lead on this - if there is an example of a talentless lame ass piggy backing on the back of the talents of "creative efforts of a black man" then Tony and the gameboys are it!

(Controversially, I do think it is the best NPG album so far - has a nice laid back vibe to it)
