In the studio Prince was the anti-Steely Dan From the Purple Rain Sessions books it's funny how lackadaisical and un-fussy he was regarding microphone placement, sonic fidelity, etc. He didn't get wrapped up - at all - on perfecting the recordings and the mixes. On of his engineers of the era is sort of funny when he said, "Yeah, pretty much everything he recorded during this time sounds like crap." LOL.
He definately valued spontaneanity and and passion over precision.
This is undoutedly how he was able to get so much music recorded. | |
