David Icke is a human singularity of insanity. If Prince believed a single word that lunatic said then he's even more credulous than I thought. There's a difference between reading something and accepting it as fact, though, so that's something to cling onto.

Let's give the Man a break. Everyone says or thinks Bull's Manure at some point in their life.
Prince was not your average Joe, and did not leave an average life.
It's only natural to be off on a few subjects when you're not part of the regular world.

I think the burqa statement was even worse.
But then again, the guy was sweet as a candy cane,
so I don't think it was something he truly meant.

Consider the whole of the political lyrics, SOTT the song aside.
Prince's view on the world has always been if not naive, if not misinformed,
kind of superficial, and possibly in this particular case, even biased.

I remember bashing Baltimore when it came out,
and now the song is one of my favourite of the latter years (the album version is way better).
I now dig the "peace and love" approach to an issue where at first, I thought it deserved a more "Run The Jewels" treatment.
So was Prince, looking at the world through a Paisley Park porthole while wearing purple glasses.
The world colors probably weren't the same to him.

THIS.
Believers tend to accept anything without question, which is what "faith" means.
Prince's education was not well-rounded but aren't we glad?
I think one reason he didn't like to give interviews is because he ALWAYS made some silly statement and didn't like to read it back later.
Burquas
Chemtrails
Another person inside him
Susan Rogers doesn't know
Celibate for six years

I always wonder if he thought he wasn't very interesting and threw that crap in at random. Or to steer away from the same old questions.

What an odd thing to say. Why would you feel embarassed by another man's choices?

David Icke sells thousands of books, tours the world and sells out arena sized venues. However, it isn't a faith and he isn't a guru. Many people who buy his books or attend his talks are exploring the subject or share ideas with Icke which over-lap. If Prince did read Icke he would've appropriated what appealed to him and dismissed the rest as he did with most areas of interest. I do think it's likely Prince read Icke because there are traces of that kind of thought in his lyrics and interviews, particularly from 2009 onwards. Whatever your opinion of Icke, his video tribute to Prince is at least condiderate and respectful.

Icke has it right. What he describes applies in general with high EI children.

I'd say the way Icke is insisting on the subject tells more about Icke than Prince.
He sounds a bit like he's pushed to reveal his own psyche throught Prince's homage.

He says he knows nothing about music, doesn't care for it since the seventies, but then he's full of superlatives about Prince's music and its powers.
That's kind of strange. Otherwise, I found he's right about the mechanics of perceiving, and empathy at large.

it really is, i didn't waste another minute with icke once i heard the lizard people bullshit. I am saying this with some understanding and some delicacy but this society has really created this type of mindset with black folks, i'm talking about all the conspiracy nonsense. I've seen some intelligent black people just believe in the stupidest crap because of this paranoia, I understand it as an Indian but i see it as a huge weakness. You have to look at things as unbiasedly as possible, as hard as that is, lots of Indians are every bit and more paranoid as black folk. My brother told me he went to a book reading by Crazy Horse's descendents who think the government has persecuted their family, maybe they have but I usually tend to doubt that kind of thing. How do we let the white man twist our brains like that? I think it's a weakness because it leaves us open to assholes like this (usually of our own kind) to come in and lead us.

What the fuck is this supposed to mean?

I don't get into Icke's foolishness but lots of things are called theories but are actually true.

Want something to chew on do research on any of the following events

JFK Assassination

MLK Assassination

MK Ultra project

Operation Northwoods

Operation Mockingbird

Watergate

CIA Involvement with Drug Trafficking

CIA Overthrow of Governements

Slavery

Native American genocide

These are not conspiracies but actual events that have impacted millions.

well, i should say, my stepdad was black, i been around urban black folk all my life, in fact i know black folk better than i know my own. there are things they both have in common and rampant paranoia is one, i understand it, i'm paranoid too, i really am but i tune people out when they start parroting shit they heard with not a single iota of proof. Intelligence has nothing to do with it, that's why i mentioned Malcolm, a guy who followed some asshole who taught him about, what was it? Motherships, dr. yacub's and all kinds of ridiculous shit and malcolm was about as smart as humans get, so intelligence doesn't seem to help with these deep scars we have. I mentioned the crazy horse family too, is it possible that the us government is after them? sure, is it likely? I doubt it. Interestingly, i know a black dude who claims, I think Chief Tecumseh, was his great grandfather, he thinks that the us government is persecuting him because of it. Maybe he's just crazy and maybe it's true, i don't live his live but I doubt it. He's still my friend either way.

all true except for maybe the assasinations, i dug up a lot on jfk and I couldn't decide one way or the other. too many people who were key witnesses are dead and the leftover evidence is tainted. MK Ultra? I don't know how far that goes but sure I believe it happened, the stuff i read about wavy gravy being a plant in the hippy movement stretches it though. anyway, this govt. left scars, leaves us open to assholes is all i can say, i've been a victim of this mentality too. I've been taken for a ride by "brothers" too falling for the us vs. them mentality.

You know who can solve all of these?! The big Q... that's right, Quincy M.E. He got to the bottom of everything with his forensic skills. I'm surprised he hasn't figured out who murdered Prince. razz

Even Icke has gone on record saying native tribes (s.american) are taking hallucinogenic plants, which would kind of explain why they might be seeing lizards, which Icke himself acknowledges.

Is anybody old enough to remember David Icke's short lived career as a footballer? Early 70's I think. I remember him as a pundit and TV presenter in the 80's. He didn't really go batshit crazy until the late 80's/early 90's.

Reading material is simply reading material. What you take from it is up to you. The wider and deeper you read, the more things come together. It's not like any one person has the answers, but we're all seeking answers. It's better to have read something and dismiss what doesn't resonate with you rather than to just dismiss things out of hand.

This used to be true, a century or three ago. These days, somebody who reads every book published will end up more stupid than somebody who has read no books.

It wouldn't surprise me. George Clinton mentioned in his book how he use to read Prince parts of Behold A Pale Horse by Bill Cooper (around the same time he'd take regular breaks to smoke crack in Prince's bathroom without his knowledge)

If you've never heard of Bill Cooper, he was a member of the far-right patriot/conspiracy theorist movement before the government murdered him.

(And a plus, he hated Alex Jones...which makes sense since Jones is probably a CIA disinfo agent eek lol The rabbit hole is fun and wild to fall down. An inquisitive guy like Prince probably thought the same.)

Ah..... "before the government murdered him" is classic consipiracy bullshit, and exactly the way he'd have put it himself. Generally, the police don't respond well to being shot at. Cooper wasn't a harmless crank just spreading ignorance and hilarity, like our man Icke, he was a dangerous one.

Let's look at the facts.

- There was a warrant out for his arrest since 1998 for tax evasion.

- The feds upgraded him to a 'major fugitive' in 2000.

- He wasn't in hiding or on the run. They knew exactly where he lived and he continued doing his radio show from his home until the very end.

- The government decided to try to arrest him (on unrelated trumped up charges to make him sound more like an unhinged maniac to the general public) less than two months after 9/11.

- They knew he said on numerous occasions that he'd defend himself if the government tried to apprehend him.
- He died in a gun fight with government agents when they tried to apprehend him.

You can try to dismiss the situation as 'classic consipiracy bullshit' but it is what it is.

And I agree he was a dangerous one. That's why he was killed and the others weren't. lol
