Half of the vault couldn't be saved from water damage?

I read that half of the materials in the vault could not be saved from water damage and mold. There was water damage on a film canister as well. Some of the mold smelled like vinegar and the vault did not have proper storage temperature. In other words..poor ventilation. If this is true than it sucks. I hope something can be done to save these masters. However it's probably too late. What are they gonna do with them? Throw them away?

We encountered boxes adhered to shelves that we had to peel off, cardboard
boxes with evidence of water damage, mold on assets, rusted film canisters,
and containers of film that smelled strongly of vinegar, which is an indication
of acetate film degradation.
