But I don't know the exact wording of the agreement between Prince and Warner Bros. to release a different version of the song independently before the album so anything is possible.

If they can work out something with the now defunct Bellmark Records or just the Estate itself. Doubt it though. Pretty sure more Symbol album or Gold releases will come. As well as Violet The Organ Grinder of course.

Although he may have done more to "educate and challenge" over the years, he's outright rude and demeaning while he does it. Have you not heard of manners?!? There's a way to get points made without having to belittle and degrade others trying to make theirs. The guy hides behind a keyboard and mouse...spouting angry retorts while rarely being directly addressed. He acts like he's the ulitmate authority on all things Prince, while at the same time doing his best to diminish his relevance and influence on the music industry. I've been here for over 20 years myself, and I've never been able to figure out why he hates the man so much. To each, their own. But if there are those in here who chose to make statements, or post inquiries, and simply celebrated the man's art, shouldn't they be able to without fear of repercussion...especially by someone who has absoluetely no place to do so? Like I said, it's not simply about respecting Prince. It's showing respect to everyone.

Interestingly this is a common missunderstanding.

Any broadcast master, particularly those finalised on DigiBeta SP (a common 90s format), can very easily be scaled to 1080p and will be great on blu ray.

The key issue most people neglate is bitrate.

In simple terms a broadcast master will hold up very nicely at 1080p and will look great at a high bitrate. For example, this can be seen on old re-runs on TV on HD channels.

What we are seeing on the Prince YouTube channel is a massive amount of compression of both the screen size and the bitrate - which in my opinion is unnecesary.

Incidentally, what people don't realise is that to go from a broadcast master to DVD requires a massive amount of compression. So when you watch your old DVD on a 55inch TV and wonder why it looks so crap, it's because DVD can't handle the volume of data the broadcast master would have, but a blu ray would.

Sadly the source used for Gangster Glam is damaged which is evident from the tape dropout.

For December 1999, when Warners re-issued 1999 as a single, (we) (when I was there) had a new broadcast 'dub' made from the master for distribution to broascasters. The end result was stunning!!!

In my view, Bart's comments comprise of three elements that make visits to Prince.org more bearable. They are factual accuracy, humor/snark, and brevity. What I do find tedious, though, is to have to wade through the illiterate verbiage from those who take umbrage. Some guy above said he's been dealing with it for 15 years. 15 years! And. He. Still.
