If this happened maybe the future would have been altered and the Cross would not have become the Christ lol

.

Yes, but think maybe as B sides: I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, The Cross, Sign O the Times or some released with a protege group -the Cocoa Boys probably would have happened if this continued as is ...

.

I could have done without Slow Love. It could also have been released as a one off song with the lady Carol.

.

Play In the Sunshine (Camille B side alter the voice or released as a DF B side) U Got the Look (Camille B side)

.

That is a strong album set list/cohesive

The alternate universe where SOTT becomes a protege group song might be worse than the one where The Cross becomes The Christ. lol I agree this was still a huge missed opportunity though.

It's still a good thing that SOTT, Slow Love, ICNTTOYM and The Cross were recorded before Camille - so Prince could still release them in a later album if he wanted to.

Slow Love isn't as essential as the other three songs as you said, but I loved the live versions of that song, so I'd rather keep it than lose it.

Also if Dream Factory and Camille were both released, we'd get Strange Relationship on both albums, I'm aware both versions are slightly different - but it would be an odd move.
_
Even if the remaining songs were released as B-sides, we'd lose out on the whole journey of the SOTT album and perhaps Prince's best tour to date.
_
Maybe things would be better if Prince toured SOTT in the USA, gave up on directing Graffiti Bridge and released the 88/89 Rave album afterwards instead.
Heck, it would help if Prince later released some of the songs from the setlist you posted. The world needs to hear more of In A Large Room With No Light and Power Fantastic.
And we're back where we're started... any ideas for potential Camille/Dream Factory singles?

LOL true, SOTT on a protege album that we don't know of yet. Maybe Ingrid could have done it justice?

.

Odd move, in the purple world, would be a cool move for 2 versions of the song (not much different than latter remixes I think) the Camille character was odd enough to make it all interesting.

.

I think the journey of the Dream Factory would have been fully 'realized' because that was the plan anyway. Even a lot of the stage set up/clothing etc was already for the Dream Factory years. The Parade era would have probably been bigger too, if UTCM was a success.

And Prince didn't want the SOTT album as is. Which is why (as much as I loved it) it was so short an era. I think it officially started in April and was over by September. Also America did not get the SOTT tour. So we lost out anyway lol But yeah I agree with U that if he toured the USA and released the 1989 Rave album... or had followed through with the Black album which I actually enjoy a bit more than Lovesexy.

.

I think the whole (what would it have been like if... senarios is fun to look over with all the music we know of)

.

for Camille: Housequake, Feel U Up, Shockadelica, and Strange Relationship(released as a dual Prince/Camille single)

But it is interesting the Prince didn't think to release Housequake as a single but the oddly quirky If I Was Your Girlfriend

.

the Dream Factory: Dream Factory, (the Ballad of)Dorothy Parker, Strange Relationship, Teacher Teacher, In A Large Room, Sexual Suicide, Power Fantastic, Last Heart, Witness 4 the Prosecuation... strong singles

I'm glad that Prince continued to work on Strange Relationship.

The DF version was good but I feel like the Camille version sounds more "complete".

I think the use of the Camille voice was a nice touch for the song.

I don't know, for me I love both. I find myself listening to the DF version more because their is more instrumentation. But I'm greedy, and would take both any day lol

I know that this is a Camille era thread but does anybody have a date for when the picture that became the album cover for Sign 'O' The Times was taken?

On the cover his hair looks different from what it looked like on the SOTT tour so I'm thinking maybe sometime in January/February of 1987?

Prince kinda went into hiding after the Parade Tour so it's hard to know what he looked like.

Sign 'O' The Times would've been even stronger if Prince hadn't cut songs like Shockadelica, Rockhard In A Funky Place and Rebirth Of The Flesh. It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night could've easily been replaced by one of those songs if u ask me.

Shockadelica, Rockhard, Bob George, Good Love, Joy In Repetition, Crystall Ball, Dream Factory and Feel U Up should have been there. To me the perfect SOTT should have been a double album with 20 songs. Including Others Here With Us which I think it fits better on SOTT than Parade.
