But Camille and the Black Album remind me of the transition between albums like 1999 and Purple Rain. To have released both albums would have been cool.
SOTT' fate would be changed though and could have been a single LP.

Too bad he could just step back from the Black album, maybe change a song or two he felt was 'offensive' and released the music as the Sheila E Birthday Party Music

True, but Prince possibly could have had his 3lp release just in single LP formats, Camille, Black Album and SOTT (reduced to single LP due to other 2 LPs). Of course, this is all what ifs and speculation.

what would you replace ROck Hard In a Funk Place(Black Album) with?

If he decided against releasing SOTT and just release the Camille album, Play In the Sunshine would have already/still be created and could have been a cool Bside and even though not initially included on the album U Got the Look could have either been added or used as a Bside too

I wouldn't expect a 'full tour' for the album. That would be reserved possibly for the next year/album. . . I think smaller shows, like Aftershows would have worked wonderfully for this. Hit a couple of nightclubs and larger sized bars. . . 1. Love or Money 2. Good Love 3. Housequake 4. Irresistable Bitch 4. Feel U Up 5. Erotic City 6. If I Was Your Girlfriend 7. Do Me Baby 7. Strange Relationship 8. Shockadelica 9. Play in the Sunshine 10. U Got the Look 11. Rock Hard In A Funky Place . . Scarlett Pussy could have been performed as a preview if the era went into 1988 . Maybe add La La La He He Hee, the Sex of It, Controversy to the set list

You got me!!!! I missed that one. That is a tough question to answer. I cannot recall any outtakes from that time period that would be an equal replacement for Rock Hard.

Kinda the same feel for aftershows for Parade? That is a really good thought. More of a private show with loose jams.

Please no, Play wasn't meant to be a b-side, at least not in my mind and heart. I t would have been greater if he had kept thew gospel ending for a little longer than he did.

Great setlist, but what about Rebirth Of The Flesh?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
When I was listening to it, I didn't see how it would be rendered live
Maybe it could be used for an opening like Escape on the Lovesexy tour

Don't get me wrong. I love Play In the Sunshine. I'm just thinking unless he did a different Camille configuration, it might have to be a Bside along with U Got the Look
or reverse it and put Good Love as a Bside

YES!! He could easily play with the mystic of Camille that way I think.

I would add Something In The Water, don't ask me why i just feel it.

JIR would fit on SOTT. | |

Whenever I read Camille now, the first thing that pops up in my head is the story of Prince calling MJ Camille.

I think 1999 and SOTT are better, but those are double albums. The wooh is on the one!

I guess the person that won the auction with the (presumed original) Camille album never came forward to talk about it?

I don't care about The Ball, but Crystall Ball would have fitted perfectly.
