Not real familiar with what photography from the early 60s looks like, are you? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

Not at all. Most were black and white, but there were a few color shots, too. Instant Polaroid color film hit the market in the first half of the 1960s. |

Thanks, CherryMoon57, but I think this one might be his younger brother Omarr. In any event, I see a resemblance between all three of them.
I am fairly sure it is him. I can't remember where I initially saw it but it was a reliable source at the time. I'd recognise those eyes in a million.
Here is another one, from 1964:

Same boy as what? What do you mean. The photo the OP posted isn't Prince - we have now clarified that - but if you are talking about these last two I posted, yes they are of Prince. Just because he looks a little different in one doesn't mean that it's not him. Even as an adult his appearance could differ a lot from one shot to another (due to lighting etc), though you can still recognise his main features. Life Matters |

CherryMoon57, I really think the boy pictured alone in the photo you posted is Omarr. I don't think that is Prince; however, as I said earlier, I see the resemblance in all three. And, since you threw in the birthday party picture, I can see that all three have the same ears. |

That's interesting, CherryMoon57. I've seen that photo several times, at least once on a thread on the Org. I really thought it was Omarr, so, if this person is correct, well, I stand corrected. |

what makes you think it's prince? is it just some random pic of a kid? anyway, the era of the pic looks too recent to even consider it to be prince.

Hi, PeteSilas. At least once a week I do a search for new Prince images. For some reason, this one popped up recently. Coincidentally, I have been immersed in Prince: A Private View. When I looked at the gaze of the little boy, it just immediately reminded me of Prince's stare in this now iconic Afshin Shahidi portrait. Not being a photographer or fashion historian, I didn't think of image resolution, the design of the child's clothing, or anything like that. Of course, I now know that it's not Prince...but, IMHO, the little tyke sure bears a strong resemblance to him. |

Before this post, I was clueless about photo dating, for lack of a better term. I guess if I had initially thought to look for a picture of baby Prince, it would have been more obvious. Comparing it to the modern photo of adult P did not make that immediately discernible; however, this baby photo just instantly made me think of the Prince stare portrait. Nonetheless, when these two photos are placed side-by-side, it's easy to see the difference in resolution...but the similarity of the ears of both boys would have still given me pause.

Clothes give it away, the first baby has a onesie of the 1970s style, not 1958. Second child Omarr wears green pants and the tacky wood bench things cream no earlier than about 1969/1970 to me. The cake photo is really cute. I can pick out Tyka and possibly is Duane between them, and Sharon is probably the one holding the baby (She was about 22 at the time).
.
Is the light skinned woman Mattie? Prince looks really calm in that shot, I wonder if he was interested in music yet at that age? They must have been pretty rich in 1964 to afford a colour camera. Heck even I have black and white photos of me as a baby. [Edited 11/10/17 18:31pm] Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name |
