No. Even if it had been a hit, he still would have had a beef with WB.

After the success of PR and being told over and over that he was God's musical gift to the world, there is no way he was ever going to be reasonable to work with again. It fed the worst parts of his personality.

Gawd, I LOVE armchair psychology. . .

If prince was more successful than D&P, things would have been different.

I dunno how different, but they would have been different.

what's starnge is that really 0(+> album did sell ok. not by prince standards but it did go plantinum. people always bash that album, however i thought it was brilliant. it could have done without Tony M. but it was a great album!

Agree. I don't listen to it nowadays but I liked the O+> album as much as his 80'ies stuff back in the days.

It's great waffling on about Prince with our own theories isn't it biggrin

As for me, I've been told not to trust my mind so I'm not going to think about an answer.

Prince was at one of his most arrogant phases in 92. It was all getting to his head. D&P was classier than Symbol. Prince spiffed himself up for D&P to regain his superstar status in the industry. Symbol sounds like he had too much money and not enough self control.

True. Some great high points, and some equally great low ones - 'Blue Light' - sorry, but Prince & Reggae? no no no! No thanx, u can keep that P.

3 Chains O' Gold - what an awesome opening - then my mouth dropped...WHAT a turd. omg

He made a concious effort (as did Warners) 2 really push D&P - and he knew he had the songs, everything was perfect.

I STILL believe that He has it in Him 2 regain that kind of exposure and unit-shifting again IF he wanted 2...

But of course, He isnt interested in that anymore - and in a way, I really respect Him 4 that - He seems happier with himself, doin what he loves & it's kinda broken down a lot of the barriers that seemed 2 be there between him and his audience. It's so much more intimate now.

& I dont know about u guys, but I like it cosy! lol
