This 4 piece outfit was found by a second hand store in Denver, Colorado, during a clean-out of an estate from a retired medical examiner. At first they thought it belonged to a little girl and put it in another box to sell at their store, Gone For Good. The store helps people clean out unwanted clutter. Some things are recycled, some thrown away, the rest sold at the store. It sat at the bottom of a box for nearly 4 months until the box was reopened to sell in the thrift store. Upon further inspection, 2 tags were found. 1 in the lapel of the jacket, the other in the waist of the pants. In purple was one word: PRINCE. A discussion began among the employees, prince WHO? Which prince of which country would wear something like this... Surely it belonged to royalty. One of the employees suggested checking into the Prince of Persia because he'd recently seen the movie. Finally, another employee offered up maybe this could be Prince the SINGER. Research was done and they reached out to Paisley Park. The staff member who answered their e-mail inquiry had only been working at PP for a couple weeks and forwarded the pics to archives. THERE the staff member informed the store SHE'D only been there a couple MONTHS and could not confirm. Meanwhile, the suit was listed on eBay. I was prepared to WIN the suit until my husband kept calling, making me nervous 15 minutes before the auction was to end. He insisted I allow HIM to bid because I was too NERVOUS. I caved in and he promised me IT WILL BE YOURS. At the end of the auction, Andy's bid was kicked out and it was not MINE. (For those interested, never last- minute shell bid on a mobile device, there are glitches in eBay's system.) A guy from the UK won the suit. Meanwhile, PP got back in touch with Gone For Good and told them YES, absolutely, the suit belonged to Prince. (In one of the shoes an employee also found a note stating Jim Shearon had designed the outfit. Jim Shearon worked as a designer from Prince's PR days up until 1991. This was made for Prince during the Purple Rain tour.) FAST FORWARD. I get a call from GFG telling me the guy from the UK did not pay. They said they were going to relist the suit unless I wanted it. SO, let's recap... SECOND HAND STORE, little girl, prince of which country, Prince of Persia, MAYBE Prince the singer let's check THAT out... Ladies and gentlemen, THE SUIT. (The shoulder pads are HUGE and his shoes are smaller than mine: I wear a size 6.5.)
.
YOU GOT IT?? What a story!! Congrats, Penny!!

Merry Christmas!!

I wonder how that entire outfit got into the hands of a medical examiner and later sold with his estate in Colorado to begin with?

I think the clothing people made off with stuff and probaly sold it. I know Devin said Prince gave her two outfits and somone stole both from her house. |

Yes, it does seem rather odd.
