America on the Nice,France show was crankin and sexy, he always cut it short on the Parade tour When he did Paisley Park live it was wonderful
they did it on the Parade open rehearsal at First Avenue, and a couple times on the Parade tour
and then the Piano & Microphone shows . But I'm listening to Temptation now, and just the full on rawness that we heard prior to the 'fame' kicking in a little later. Reminds me Dirty Mind Prince . 1985 since he didn't need to do another world tour, some random shows across the country promoting the ATWIAD music... doing a killer funk rock show at a famous local club/bar ending with Temptation...full on, no holds barred, thank u and good night, ain't no mo gon' be left after I finish playing this one'

The Temptation rehearsal is cool, but a faithful rendition of the song. The version relies on Prince's delivery. The rehearsal of Shockadelica is a reinterpretation. The song is re-imagined for a live setting. [Edited 10/27/17 16:50pm] The wooh is on the one!

But it is still dependant on Prince's delivery. Without it where does it go? I mean Shockadelica the lp/studio cut when translated to this live set, needs Prince to take it someplace or it just drags out. Musically after the lyrical parts it didn't build anymore. It was too long.
It could be why it was never performed live, because he didn't know how to take it further in that version? But if they did the rendition of the album, it would have been climactic.
I mean Prince's music back then was so unique (to me at least) hearing it rendered live was orgasmic.
Don't get me wrong, I love this expression of the song. But like Strange Relationship, they were probably not done live because Prince didn't feel the songs that way delivered. I wish he would have done it as the single cut as well.
I think that is also why songs like Adore, were not really 'dealt' with because, running it through a show would not give it justice. Adore needed 3-4 singers, someone devoted to finger cymbals and other percussion, flutes and all the particular sounds to really do it justice.
Even IT live I could only hear once in a while. It was climactic, and I would have to see it being performed. I think the studio cut I could be more appreciative of it rendered as is. I still wanted that little guitar solo
