"The War". Was anyone here at the show when it was recorded?

And did anyone get the original CD?

Think I have the cassette somewhere.

1800 New Funk mailed me the cassette out of the blue. I never ordered it. I still have it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

June 20 1998...I was told it was private, but the next day some friends told me they got in really late. Like at 2:00 AM.

Several orgers were there and told about it on the Org in the past. The whole 45mn or so performance is a holy grail of mine but according to them, it was pretty repetitive and somewhat boring, with a lot of stuff having been overdubbed on the final, edited version. I still would like to hear it a lot but, unfortunately, it's not circulating. It would be interesting to include it on a War rerelease one day. This record is one of Prince's most interesting works.

Like most folks, I just got this in the mail "out of the blue," but I don't think I had ordered Crystal Ball. I did have the1800NEWFUNK compilation so that may have been why I was on "someone's" mailing list. I received the "Dinner with Delores" cassette in a similar fashion, just kinda "out of the blue." I don't remember if I received either because I was subscribed to the Prince Family Newsletter edited by Diana Dawkins. At any rate, there was a lot happening with Prince between 94 - 2004, and I just tried to keep up as much as possible. And, luckily it paid off, getting copies of "The War" and "Dinner with Delores" before most folks outside the general Prince fandom loop got them.

Orger Lovemachine (Dean?) was there but he hasn´t posted here in a long time.

He basically said the same things that Databank posted above.

Any official CDs out there?

I imagine they would go for quite a sum.

I downloaded my copy from Tidal. I am not sure if it still is listed there.

Wow. There is too.

It's funny really. It doesn't feel that long ago but of course it is. Seems a lot longer when you realise cassettes were still a thing.

I actually have the CD release.

I ordered it back in 1998 from NPG Store (if I'm not wrong together with the "Come On" limited MaxiSingle CD).

Diana sent these out with The Prince Family newsletter, hinting they were from Prince.

Correct

I did the same - it was only available for a short period.
