I know it's been said before and I know I am sounding churlish but - when there's songs like All My Dreams, In A Large Room With No Light, etc, then there shouldn't be cover songs to discuss!

For some reason, this is the biggest "thing" about Prince that irks me. Don't know why...

That said, I really liked When Will We Be Paid? and the rehearsal of Summertime makes me smile.

I just had to go and listen to Large Room just to calm down, then....!

"Creep." So unexpected, yet he made it his own. It's one of his most iconic moments IMO.

I was all set to love this as I'm a big fan of the original and even more so of Joan Jett's version but Prince usulaly likes to do one thing to covers that messes them up. Here he did two!

He skipped the best lyric, "I wanna do everything" and then for some reason thought Wild Thing fit here. WTF?

When I saw the post title, I immediately thought of "Crimson & Clover"

His voice is so soothing during this cover song. Some of you might agree nod

Motherless Child on the Septimo show is one his greatest performances on circulating video.

Phenomenal track. How did I miss so many brilliant cuts? While movie star may be Prince at his most Morris Day persona, I think this may be my favorite Morris Dayesque track (the jokey extended coda where he wants to call up the Colonel because of all the chicken scratching lol). I never got a lot of Prince boots early on in my Prince fanhood, but I have fond memories of playing this song on a compilation while driving around town in the summertime.

Those pounding slighty phasey toms are everything to me, and the merry go round repeating synth line are beyond belief. An underappreciated vocal performance too. I like how the vocals are almost lost in the background vocals woos and ahhs. Perfection and like Can't stop this feeling I got a summer song for me.

Yeah he did.Prince sent his version to Howard stern before the Superbowl.howard then played it on his radio show and kept interrupting the song every 30 seconds.I thought it sounded good but the version that's circulating is in poor quality. I think Prince covered because the foo fighters covered "Darling Nikki"

1. A Case Of You - my personal favorite by far
2. Crimson and Clover

The Best of You (better than the original but i'm not a Foo fan), Motherless Child, Creep are all wonderful as well. I must be the only one who doesn't care for One Of Us. Not crazy about Betcha By Golly Wow, I Can't Make You Love Me either. shrug
