Co-sign. Under the Cherry Moon. An underestimated film. My mother grew up in the b/w era of films, and she has always said it is her favorite, even though she is a huge fan of everything Prince.

Under the Cherry Moon. I love his funny side. I feel like Christopher Tracy is more similar to the REAL Prince than the Kid in PR.

They're all brilliant and silly and funky and gorgeous and fluff and life and wonder...But, what I actually came here to say is:
Is it just me - speaking of films and Prince - would Ben Stiller make a wonderful Prince in a bio-pic?
Think about the scene in Dodgeball where he offers the bribe to thingy Vaughn's character - he looks very, very Paisley...love to put the picture here but I still completely don't know how to copy pictures into this site...I'm so old.
Just saying...and I think he would be able to be infuriatingly Prince like in his performance.

Purple Rain. Well made, decent acting considering a lot of the actors aren't actors and a great soundtrack. Definitely Prince's best movie. A solid 4 out of 5.
Under the Cherry Moon is not as bad as most people would say it is but it's still a long way from actually being a good movie. If Prince wasn't in it, would anyone here even care about it? 2 out of 5. Graffiti Bridge. Awful movie. Just awful. Nonsense story, cheap looking sets and dreadful performances from everyone not named Morris Day. Brilliant soundtrack but taken as a movie, it's a colossal failure. 1 out of 5. If we're also including Sign O The Times, then we'd have to judge it on different criteria what with it being a concert movie. Technically it is the best of Prince's movies but I wouldn't include it when talking about movies starring Prince because it is just a concert movie. So Purple Rain is my choice for best Prince movie. [Edited 10/19/17 2:43am]
