***Help*** Trying to remember a late night TV performance

I am deawing a blank but there was a late night TV show perfomance that Prince did. I wanna say he did "Delirious" as part of the medley of hits he did. I remember that the audience ws really into and it was a high energy performance.

Anyone know what I am talking about?

Not surenofnthe show but I know the performance tonwhichnyou refer. He does a medley of songs and dances atop the piano and runs and slides towards the camera man. Very high energy performance. Prob jam of the year tour era.

Prince (Chaka, Larry as special guest...Mayte surprise guest) interview/performance on Vibe (June 8, 1998) w/Sinbad as host:

His performance of Delirious was very high energy!

It is that show because the interview outfit is the same costume he wears during
The performance, but this performance at the end is Larry, chama
And prince. I'm not sure why it is difficult to find the high energy
Portion of the performance, but I always do.

What is the first song named in the medley? Where they sing in the chorus "I've gotta be Free!" I love the music during that performance.

I used to have this tv appearance recorded on VHS videotape, Sinbad is the host,

I believe Prince played Lets' Work + Delirious, 2 excellent songs, and he was on fire heart

The rest of the performances by Larry + Chaka were not that good.. imo..

( Info: This info is by memory )

PF99, I'm so disappointed in you. You mean to tell me that you didn't have the VCR recording when this was happening?!? I can't tell you how many mornings, days, evenings, and nights I spent during the 80s and 90s breaking my neck and other peoples toes making sure that my three VCRs were always ready just in case the Purple One was on TV. I even left work one day to be sure to catch him on Today or GMA or some morning show. I'm so disappointed that you had the nerve to have a life outside your Prince fandom and not allow every waking moment be dedicated to Prince. Come to think of it, I don't know how the hell I kept my wife all these years being glued to the TV in hopes that the Purple One would appear. I guess it's finally safe for me to unplugg all those VCRs. :^)

Performance aside, I do love Mayte's ballerina smile and dagger eyes at Larry, as he blethers on about the whole 'stauros' thing during the interview. lol

There was always someone who caught it and I'd go to their place and watch it like a special event. You know "come over I got prince on tape from the other night" man we did some rewinding!!!! The poor vcr heads would squeal!!! Or I would ask my mama to set her vcr,
That was always an epic fail!! "Oh baby I didn't quite get it all"

Oh, yes, don't remind me about those squeaking and squealing VCR heads. Man, how many of those things did I just kill with overuse? Then, there were the VHS tape rewinders that were supposed to save the life of the VCR, but the rewinders often broke the VHS tapes. I think the very first Prince tv appearance I recorded on my own was the 1989 SNL performance of "Electric Chair." But, by then, I was a pro because I had been recording his videos from MTV and BET for a couple of years. While I don't miss the age of the VCR, I had gotten so good that in my main tv room I kept two VCRs connected to the tv at all times so that I could record and then edit. Yeah, again, I'm surprised that I ever met and kept a woman.

Oh, yes, I remember Friday Night Videos because that was right about the time when television stopped going off for the night. Today, young folks don't even know that there was a time when television would sign/go off for the night, usually at midnight. It would be the national anthem and then a tv screen full of snow. Then, unannounced, tv programming lasted until the morning, and, if I'm not mistaken, I was watching Friday Night Videos or Night Tracks with my cousins when we realized, "Damn, it's morning and tv is still on." God, I feel old.

*

To show you how lame I was, I had a VHS tape rewinder that was a red corvette. Yes, you would raise the hood, insert the tape, and press rewind. That damn thing ate two or three of my tapes, but, I was such a Prince nerd that I learned how to unscrew the VHS tapes and "tape" them together so that they would still play. Dear God, I was pathetic.

*

I definitely remember laser disc, but they were so expensive that when they finally decreased in price DVDs were becoming more popular. So, that's the one medium in which I never purchased Prince art. I have had Prince art on 8-Track, VHS, Beta, album, cassette, CD, DVD, and MP3. I think that's all.
