Color me clueless but I was always fuzzy on the details of who broke the color barrier on MTV. I know michael jackson campaigned hard to get his videos on there, but apparently Prince's 1999 videos were on heavy rotation before Jackson. | |

It's to my understanding that Prince's videos of his 1999 singles were airing on MTV prior to "Billie Jean" but while that may be true, it was Mike's videos that put more eyes on MTV. Prince was there first but MJ did change MTV. In any case, great read! 1999 is an incredible album. I think it's a stronger project than PR, personally. [Edited 10/29/17 17:46pm] | |
