X-mas is coming. Any new official releases planned?

Hi guys and guyets,

Since the birthday of baby Jesus is celebrated by an old man in a red and white suit giving us loads of presents, I was wondering... Is there an official release in the pipeline? And if so, what would it be?

I'll admit that I don't understand estates etc. but I woulda thought they woulda managed something. Surely if keeping things afloat is key and money is linked to this the family, with the admistrators (Comerica is it) could have agreed on two or three uncontentious releases - even if it was in conjunction with Warners, or after his time from them... seems like opportunities are continuing to be missed and the worry is that when something comes out it will be substandard or distasteful.

.

Of course, NewPowerSoul coverband is in the pipeline, but I'd only pay for that if it was their own original material, not covers when we all have the originals anyway!!

So far from the estate we only got (not complaining)

- PRINCE 4EVER

- PURPLE RAIN DELUXE

I hope the next thing is a new album of unreleased music, hopefully Black Is The New Black if there is enough material for an album, what about HitNRun Phase 3 as rumoured by TIDAL he was going to deliver that album to them, and what about the follow up to Plectrum Electrum with 3rd Eye Girl...

I wonder.....why do they have to do only one release at a time? Wouldn't it be cool if three Prince albums (maybe Controversy,1999 and SOTT) were all given the deluxe treatment and released on the same day? hmmm

That would flood the market.

If the rumor is true it will be released in April to coincide with the 2nd anniversery of his death.

Well I'm fine with one deluxe release every year, it's better than nothing cuz it will take some time before we get any unreleased albums and other stuff from the estate.

Which part of THE ESTATE IS NOT YET SETTLED is so bloody hard to understand? Oh, and didn't you notice the multi-million record deal failing spectacularly earlier this year?

No, you got those because those were part of the 2014 deal. As has been explained ad nauseam.

Cunny funt. I said I don’t quite get it. However, Paisley became a museum. The estate wasn’t settled then? And I was saying that surely there must be some way that something can get done in the best interests or it damages ‘the estate’, isn’t that what Comerica are supposed to be looking out for.
.
If you’d like to explain rather than going to capitals it would be welcomed. Either way, I feel honoured to have been chastised by you. You take care now.

Didn't Sharon Nelson say in her Q&A that the Family has no say in the Estate or something to that order?

WBR can do what they need to do and pass whatever on to the Estate which still has some working power to make decisions. Now as for future releases of music that has never been released there may be held up because the Estate has not been settled.

This is a pathetic excuse. There's very little official news WRT Prince, and yet you can't even be bothered to keep up with that?

A building is a whole different matter from a record deal, especially when Prince seems to have left a legal clusterfuck.

Again: noticed the spectacular fail of that million dollar deal earlier this year?

I find it baffling that the family/estate has no say in the music! when they hold all the masters at Paisley! unless they cut a deal with WB to supply them masters, how will this work? you can clearly hear the bootleg quality of the Warners released Moonbeam Levels, Velvet Kitty Cat etc (having heard the Superior Blast from the past versions.) Very frustraiting!

Also WB dont own anything after 1995(?), so who has the right to that if the estate dont????

I assumed the family doesn't have control over the estate and can't release anything if even they wanted.

Why don't they release something to makr the anniversary of his birth? Why is PP having the celebrations on his deathday, rather than his birthday??? I don't get it.

As long as you confuse the words "family" and "estate" and treat those 2 concepts as one, your reasoning is gonna hit a wall and your questions will remain unanswered.

Not to be rude like Bart, but there's an interview on this very board with Sharon Nelson, and she explains it all pretty clearly. I wish people would read it before trying to discuss the topic.

Interesting, but I highly doubt any further deluxe release will contains unreleased material like "4 Ever" or "Purple Rain Deluxe".

Probably we can trust on the CD release of all 12" versions and B-Sides (and I would be happy the same), and maybe some kind of obscure related track like the piano version of "An Honest Man" from UTCM movie. Nothing more, I think.

They can't!

The family, also knowm as the heirs, do not (yet) own or run Prince's estate. That is being run by the business administrators.

Sharon is talking speculatively.

Time will tell but no timeline has been revealed.

Yes for sure. The obvious activity would be to continue the re-issue series but WB have stopped that - sadly.

It would be very cool to see some of the early 12inches re-issued such as Gotta Stop.

Hopefully they will resume but no one knows.

Possibly because Prince himself said he would 'celebrate the day (I) die'. (I think it's in his interview with Mel B).
