They have a similar organ sound--96 Tears isn't unique in that. And it's there as part of the history that led to Shake! I'm willing to see it as an influence on the track--and have no problem with anyone pointing it out anytime they want to (as long as they don't start some pointless "he stole it" foolishness). It doesn't hurt anyone to listen to different music and enjoy the relationships that exist.
And this thread led me to a thread on the Steve Hoffman music forum where people were connecting 96 Tears to the Velvet Underground's Waiting for My Man and to the bassline for Bowie's Heroes, so I'm having a wonderful time right now. | |
