Hey nice pictures! You still live in Silverlake? That's where I live! Org noted you so as to not take the thread off topic. But, wow what are the chances of that! No I don't anymore but I live near by.

Aah, u r taking me back!
I remember it was a cloudy day in March when I rushed to my record store and bought Parade. I was a teenager in the throes of Prince fandom; he could do no wrong. When PR and ATWIAD came out, I immersed myself in the album, 12" singles, B-sides and videos (when the "America" video aired once in a blue moon). So when I first heard the sounds of "Christopher Tracy's Parade" I KNEW I was in for a real trip. I remember taking a real shine to the first side of the LP the most. It all kind of blended together seamlessly. Of course, "Kiss" was all over the place, but to me it was irrelevant after hearing the 12" version (SAUL! Do you value your LIFE, Saul?!?!?). And or $ ? Killa. He was all over MTV. He did that horrible promotion for the flick. Our local R & B station played both the 12" of Kiss and or $ on a regular basis. I also remember hearing "Mountains" and "Girls and Boys" on a regular basis on the pop stations. Of course, critics loved or hated the LP. I remember seeing the movie three times. I didn't care about how good or bad it was, I just thought Prince was bad and I liked his music and his attitude. The flick was funny. The vids for all the singles were cool. "Girls & Boys" was relegated to the dustbin pretty early on. Come to think of it, in 1986 you had "Raising Hell," "Licensed to Ill," "Sledgehammer." "Holdin' Back The Years," "8," that was a good year for music overall. But I digress. I came to appreciate the album more as time went on and appreciate the movie for its campy, funny vibe. What a great LP and a fun movie. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

From 1986 to 1988 Prince simply could not do wrong in my eyes (as far as music is concerned...Under The Cherry Moon, while being some campy fun was NOT a good movie). I liked Prince when I bought 1999 back in 82 but Parade began the OBSESSION to get anything and everything the guy put his paisley thumb print on,
I liked Kiss - the single, but when I heard the 12" on the radio I was blown away. Love or $ was another incredible JAM. THEN I bought Parade on cassette at Musicland at Water Tower Place in Chicago where they were playing it in the store. Well, after hearing that tape I became a hardcore Prince fan. Buying all the 12", side projects, and videos. I played the hell out of that thing that year...until SOTT came out. Its still my fave Prince album besides Sign. My friends thought I was insane...here is this Zeppelin fanatic all of a sudden playing Prince ALL the time. This time of year I always playing it a lot since it brings back all those great memories and it just shouts SPRINGTIME to me.
