I am not sure if anyone is familiar with the ACE study that observed a positive correlation between childhood traumas and negative life outcomes regarding health. When I first learned about the study in my Developmental Psychology class so muc bbq clicked for me in understanding my life and outcomes. A few weeks ago I read and article on Facebook called When Doves Cry the lost child deeply Mourns the Loss of Prince and I realised that might have been a big part of my attraction to Prince.

As a Prince fan I had known he had an unhappy childhood but back then I did not understand how deeply that can shape someone's personality, how the view relationships and their worldview. I actually think Denise Matthews and Prince really connected because they both were trauma survivors but probably did not realize it at the time.

This post isn't meant to pry into Prince's childhood or spicifics of his past but to open up a bigger discussion on ACE scores, childhood trauma and connections to Prince we fans have felt.

Personally I have an ACE score of 5 which is relatively high...Prince lyrics and music always felt familiar to me and I just always felt like I got him and understood exactly all the feelings and emotions his lyrics conveyed. After his death it caught me so off guard and it affected me deeply...in my unhappy childhood his music and Prince world always felt safe and exciting and hopeful.

Well, my ACE score is 8 and I have no chronic disease.
