Prince: Most relentless, most focused, the most driven
This commentary is personal. Not because I knew him…we exchanged words and glances on two specific occasions…but because I know. What I know is, in part, what he knew: our shared experiences as Black people, living in Minneapolis.

Thanks Laura. These stories prove that it truly takes a "village" to raise a child! He had a lot of angels in disguise!

I love this
" She said Eddie told Prince, “they are offering you carrots but you will not get anywhere near the money that you will actually make for them.” She said Prince took to heart Eddie’s advice: “Don’t apologize for standing up for yourself.”

That statement seared his mind and cemented his career.

Thanks for posting this. I love reading stories about the early years in Minneapolis since I am a big fan of the Minneapolis Sound and also because I have friends there. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Very interesting story. It's great to hear about Prince being involved in a pretty cool sounding music program (The Way) when so young (age 7-8). I didn't know about this piece of history.
But what did she mean by "his appearances on 'SoulTrain.'"? Prince didn't appear on Soul Train until the 1990s. Are they talking about his music, The Time, and Sheila E, or just plain convused.
