I still love exactly what drew me back into Princeland in 2009 after being absent for 15 years or so... The music, the mentality, the mystery, the energizing ride that was and STILL IS--Prince!

Lord, there are so many things. ......Like many, his music was the first thing I loved about him, even before I saw his face, the next thing I fell in love with. I admired his talent for singing, in high pitch and low, and of course his skills of the guitar and other instruments. I loved his speaking voice, deep and eloquent. His hair, eyes, that tiny little muscular body, the way he walked, you name it. I also loved how he loved his hometown, and was proud of it....However, I think the most important thing to me, that I admired the most, was his love of God. He loved God, and he didn't care who knew it, which is rare for someone in part of the entertainment field that he was in. He wasn't afraid to say that he loved God, and he never waivered in his faith. I liked that he spoke his mind, whether you liked what he said or not. He was fierce in that manner, and unafraid. I admired him for that, among other things. The list could go on and on, but that's all I'm going to list for now.

Yup, from his earliest songs, including the one called "God," he was never afraid to explore that in his music. Even at the end, where IMO, he relaxed the JW stuff and became more inclusive in his spirituality. Just my opinion--nobody need comment.

Here are the qualities and behaviors that I admire about him.

--Musicianship - First and foremost, I love his music. Of his musical talents, I most love his guitar playing, vocals, and songwriting

--Intelligence - He was a deep thinker and a great writer.

--Sex appeal - He was sexy, and he knew it! He aged like fine wine. He had great style. He wore lace better than most women. He was a straight man who could rock heels and make-up.

--Courage to stand for his convictions - He wasn't afraid to stand up for his right as an artist to own his master recordings. He released The Most Beautiful Girl in the World as an independent single and it was a success. He was a pioneer in releasing music on the internet. He wrote SLAVE on his face and took on Warner Brothers. Much of the general public thought that he was a crazy person during the mid-90s, myself included. And yet, during the last 5 years of his life, when he attended award shows, the crowds gave him standing ovation after standing ovation.

--Confident - When it was raining at the Super Bowl in 2007, he didn't care. He went out and played arguably the greatest Super Bowl halftime performance of all time. He was dancing and playing the guitar in heels on a slippery stage.

--He loved purple - Purple has been my favourite colour for 15+ years, long before I became a big fan of Prince. I just like the fact that he shared a love of the colour purple.

--He loved and cared about animals - He had cats and dogs, and had compassion for animals.

--He loved and cared about people - He loved his fans. He loved children. He gave to people who were in need. When his son Amiir was alive, was a devoted father who stayed with Amiir during every surgery and put the needs of his son before his own.

His Openess with his own evolution. Well, open enough for us to see that change happens whether you like it or not - embrace it.

Ability to convey emotion with both lyrics and sound.

Tenacity, especially in the late 70s-mid 80s.
