I don't buy Carmen's statement really. I think she is downplaying her cheating to look a bit better. She has been mostly kind about Prince after his death even writing a long post on facebook relatively recently about how she really liked learning a lot of nice things about Prince since his death from people he knew. But no one wants to look like the lady that cheated on Prince even if he had it coming. I imagine he would be upset about her hanging out with other men. But his anger seems a bit much for what she said she did. In fact, There was a story from Adam Ant about Vanity kicking it with Adam Ant and yes, Prince was pretty upset when he found out, but he didn't write an angry song like that or send her on her plane.

I speculate that P's multiple girlfriends upset her and she retaliated rather than just stated her case that he would have to cut that shit out if he wanted to have her...

I've always wondered what the source was for this. Is there any substance to it or is it just an org urban myth? I've never seen Tony or Carmen comment on it

Why on God's green earth would that admit they had an affair. Especially since Prince has passed. It would very tacky to discuss an affair now.

It's almost comical that Prince would be furious with Carmen Electra for cheating when he was something of a Lothario, reportedly juggling several relationships simultaneously.

--Well I did not want to repeat it but I remember that rumor. She swears she was not seeing anyone else to this day and she did say he once asked her if she could just be a housewife and nut have carreer. Maybe he had some plans to settle down with her I know she says he never asked her.

Is anyone else suprised he cared this deeply for Carmen Electra? I never thought of them as so serious...

In order for them to comment on it now they would be admitting to it or denying it.

Prince has passed and if they discuss this now they would be discussing it after he passed since they never discussed it before.

I didn't say anything about them discussing it after Prince passed. The rumour has been around for many years so I was curious where it came from and them never having commented even off the record.

The rumor came from some people who worked for him and the only why to confirm it would be for the two living parties to comment on it.

Ok so I don't mind sharing this in the forum because the information was not divulged to me in a hush hush, keep it on the DL tip. It was rather matter of fact and came straight from the mouth of Mavis Staples.

In 1995 I was a concierge at the Omni Shoreham hotel in D.C. when recording artist Mavis Staples name appeared on the VIP list of the Front Desk Mgr. As it turned out, I was the only person on shift that night who knew who she was so I was given the assignment to greet her, express her up to her suite and point out the amenities. She arrived with a female assistant (perhaps a relative) and I welcomed them on behalf of the hotel. I also made mention that it was a particular honor for me to make her acquaintance as I was familiar with both her older music and the newer efforts with Prince.

I asked her about her experience filming for Graffiti Bridge. She opened right up like a faucet. We chatted in the elevator going up and for a good 5-7 minutes after I had gotten them situated in the suite. I remember Mayte being "in" at that time and I made mention of the fact that I had met her on the Act I tour. Mavis said that Mayte was a nice girl but it was really Carmen that Prince was in love with "but she messed up with that basketball player" (Dennis Rodman). DR was really popular back then. The Bulls were on their 72-10 tear through the NBA. Dude was at the peak of his popularity but I still could not figure out for the life of me why she would cheat on Prince with him.

Her assistant abruptly ended our exchange right after that and I bid my farewells. From the time I left the room, I knew that Eye Hate U was about Carmen and I knew exactly who it was that she messed around with. I don't know how the Tony M story got started but having met him too, I'd say that's fairly implausible even if I hadn't heard this from Mavis.

Well whoever this song is about, it's EXPLOSIVE!

We can all agree collectively that it REALLY kicks ass, especially that great big solo at the end.

Where in the WORLD did you get the notion that this song, supposedly composed in late 1996, has anything to do with Carmen Electra, or that the condom story (a pretty obvious lyrical exaggeration for the sake of drama) is based on true events?

I thought it was Duane who told Carmen that Prince went to look at rings for her. That story came from Carmen althought she said he never gave her a ring just asked her if she could give up her carreer to be a housewife.

Some of these stories come from the mouths of the people involved and they have been going around many years before Prince passed away so these people were not afraid to speak.
