The Purple Rain videos were already released on Blu-ray, but in the same standard definition as the YouTube videos. The early videos most likely don't exist in HD so another DVD release would be the best we can expect.

I saw "The Question of U" for the first time last week. (I'm only 31 years old, born in 1986.) Oh my goodnes, I it!!! At 1:24, when he climbs up on the piano and starts playing the guitar, I just melt . The guitar solo is pure awesomeness, and the dance routine is pretty nice too.

A lot of orgers throw shade at the D&P era, but I think that the music videos from this era are very strong, particularly the videos for the singles. "Cream" and both of the "MDM2N" videos are great videos, artistically. I feel that the highlight of the "Cream" video is the choreography. I love the no-frills "MDM2N" video (the one with Prince & the NPG), and how the collage of news clips, footage of Prince & the NPG performing, and lyrics bring the meaning of the song to life. "Diamonds and Pearls" is my second-favourite Prince album, and I absolutely love the vibe from this era.

yeah I think I have the VHS single of it somewhere.

It's an edit of the full performance from the "Live at the Tokyo Dome" concert video that gets shown on TV every couple of years (and which is widely bootlegged). The "Electric Man" portion is edited out because that's a cover.
