He would stand out no matter what...makeup or no makeup, heels or no heels. He was too tiny and uniquely cute to not draw attention(especially once he got famous but even before) . That's what Alan Leeds didn't seem to understand. To me, Prince seems so vulnerable in this picture and he still stands out (even with more understanded clothes) . At least, in the pictures and clips where he is drawing more attention to his makeup, heels, sexuality, he can control the reasons people stare.

I find it particulalry Irksome when People try and take credit for Princes sucess in any way

He was destined for it, with or without any of them...

Yes...He stood out

He was UNIQUE

I was referring to Alan Leed's story about Prince stating that he was tired of people staring at him--meanwhile P was walking around in heels, makeup and frilly PJ's. Leeds thought P was being kind of ridiculous. I think what Leeds didn't consider is that people would have noticed him in some way or another even without makeup, heels, etc, (even the people on the street in NYC might have thought he looked familar or noticed how small and pretty he was) but at least P could control the reasons he was being stared. In makeup, heels, and outrageous clothes, they stared because Prince was a bold rock star. Without those things, they might stare because he was a pretty diminutive man-child who looked like a stiff wind could blow him over.
