Priestess said "Yes they are concerned with it and I agree with you on that point because there are some who just don't understand it."
Amazing!!! Do you not regard what you just said as pious, derisive and aloof? All that in just your opening gambit! But then, you are not going to consider the fact that, actually, people analyse what they see and hear, make up their own mind and (gasp!) decide for themselves that they do not like it, or disagree with it? It is not always the case that people dislike something because they don't comprehend it. However, this is just indicitive of how your thought-processes are entirely manipulated - instead of tasting coffee and deciding if you like it, you'll be made to drink it 3 times and be told it tastes exactly how the teachers said it would taste! (warning: may be subject to change as our understanding of taste evolves) To answer the question you posed, I will re-state my position. I am happy for Prince and anyone else to believe what they want. Prince is obviously inspired at the moment and, whilst I may disagree with some of the issues raised on TRC, I don't let that get in the way of enjoying what is a great piece of work. And should he be baptized, either now or in the future, that will not affect my position as an admirer. "All I'm saying is that if we were true fams, it shouldn't matter to us what religion he choses to believe in." Again, I feel this is a pointer to the way that your mid works, the blind faith syndrome. I dis-agree entirely with this statement. It should matter. What he says in his lyrcis matters, the music he writes matter, the image he projects matters - if there comes a time where, what I consider Prince to be doing, is not to my tastes, then I would stop being a "fam", as you put it! SomewhereInApril - your comment would be fine if it was purely being active that is their motivation! But, it's not. Still, salmon swim upstream... preistess & mr7 extremely intresting opinions!
my take on this comes from experiences of having had several Jw as acquaintances and friends over the years. as i told them-i don't have a problem checking out your literature or listening to what you have to say. the problem i did have with them was the same flaw. they refused to listen to my views on faith ..etc etc. in general they were close-minded people. that will always be my problem with JW's -they will not listen to anybody else's views. which i a sore point with me. prince being a Jw is fine with me. as a fan i want him to be happy and at peace with himself. we ALL need something to believe in. GOd is a good place to start-whatever religion one chooses. my problem with him would be if he (and larry) narrowminded- ness gets overbearing with everyone who isn't JW. he's always been strong-minded about what he believed in- witness his long-time fight with WB.(warner bros) and with people in general. the little guy had always had one VIEW on things..his own!!! in general i think he is DEAD serious about this. which is cool. whether he will be a JW follower next year- only he knows. religion is a fascinating subject to discuss...everybody's got a take on it. like politics its a HOt subject. peace and love my brothers & sisters | |
