Personally I think the back cover of the Lovesexy Tour book where you can clearly see the word "Lovesexy" on the arm of the blue jacket and "Prince" on his thigh would have made a much better cover for the Lovesexy album!

The wrekka stows would not have had a problem carrying it (I remember lots of US stores would not carry the album which hit sales) and fiercly heterosexual males would not have had their sexuality threatened as much buying the album

That's one of my all time favourite Prince photos.

I hate that picture! I wish I had never seen it.

I think this thread is about the cover picture of the Lovesexy tourbook, not the Lovesexy album cover.

As to the tourbook cover, I don't like it - it's too feminine - too much of make-up (plus the colors!!!), and the attitude displayed somehow bothers me.

on the other hand I love the album cover - it's pure Prince - both very masculine (look at the fallic-shaped flower) but still with a feminine touch.

I think it's fucking brilliant.

Best of???!!! I thought they only did Spin Me Around and that was crap anyways! Pete Burns is a complete air-head with some bizarre socialogical issues - as witnessed recently on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, here on UK telly.

I can't see why people don't dig this piccie of Prince, or why some seem to have a problem with the Lovesexy cover. Personally, I think they are both brave and brilliant. Its a shame that a naked man, or a glammed-up man, were such an issue in 1988 - now its 2003 and surprise, surfuckingprise, things haven't changed a damn!

As someone said before, the album cover proabably prevented "red-blooded males" from buying it - why? What, afraid you might touch Prince's dick when you picked it up off the counter or something?? Or he might jump off the cover and give you a big, sloppy kiss?! Jeez!

You Spin Me Round being crap is just your opinion, not fact - what is a fact, is that it was a huge international hit, and the first bonefide S/A/W hit single, which allowed them to develop into the Motown of the 80s - that song also brought the genre Hi-NRG into the mainstream.

They had other hit singles: Lover Come Back To Me, In Too Deep, Something In My House, Brand New Lover, Turn Around & Count 2 Ten, That's The Way I Like It - of course Spin was their biggest hit, and they are remembered only for that - but it is a great song, so no complaints there.

As for Pete Burns having "bizarre socialogical issues", I don't know what you are talking about, the only personality traits I saw him display on Never Mind The Buzzcocks was extreme boredom, due to being there for the filming for hours on end, and that shows obvious target of Marc Lamarr's humour (which is an acquired taste at best).

I LOVE IT!

This is one of my favorite photos of Prince -- I had 3 copies of the tourbook, so I had the front and back covers framed with a red matte that matches the inside lining of the coat, and a blue frame matching the blue of the coat.

I love the little bit of stubble combined with the heavy make-up. The androgyny captures the whole essence of what Lovesexy is to me.

Of course, I'm one of those who believes that any and everything associated with Lovesexy is the fucking end all be all. So sue me!

A firned laughed his ass off at my tour book while we were watring for price to come on. And he also made fun of Fink
