They are not only for Prince fans, but just really good guitars in general. I want to make sure more stores have those in stock for people to try... But the lead time is again almost 1 year, and the factory increased their production capacity with 30%. Yeah, the cost of something I can't play first is a big reason I haven't pulled that trigger. I would LOVE to try one out first.

I completely agree, the only guitar I ever bought unseen was my 84 mad cat, which I found in a store in Japan. All others I always tested in person.

I could judge ony from those demo videos - and Md Cat sounds very close to demo-ed Strat
The video of LImited Edition Mad Cta shows WAY different and unique sound
Still I am missing good unplugged video

Still I am missing good unplugged video Unplugged? With an electric guitar? Even with really good microphones, that would be really hard to judge anything. Or maybe I misunderstood you?

No - I really meant the video of guitar not plugged into any amp That gives you understanding how does it resonates This is a great lesson. Learnt from greats like Clapton and Blackmore It either sounds melodically good or not My former strat - early Japanese Malmsteen strat - resonates like a grand piano unplugged. After all electric guitar is still made of wood and IS a musical instrument If it sounds good unplugged - than I don’t even need to plug It because it sounds great Btw - there is no doubt that those reissued MadCats are amwzing [Edited 8/29/17 20:51pm] [Edited 8/29/17 20:53pm] [Edited 8/29/17 20:55pm] [Edited 8/29/17 20:56pm] [Edited 9/4/17 6:33am]

OK, so I just found out about "unboxing" videos, and now unplugged electric guitar demo's are a thing too? All kidding aside, I also test electrics this way, I have bought multiple guitars in the past without plugging them into an amp. But it's already hard to make a realistic recording of an amplified guitar, so impossible to make a truthful video of an unplugged one. All the nuances will get lost. The only thing you will hear is how much new-string 'zing'it has... I agree that trying it acoustic is really helpful, but you should feel it yourself, a video recording of this is almost pointless in my opinion. And FYI, I am a sound engineer, I have mixed foh for thousands of people and recorded / mixed full albums. So I do know how to make decent recordings...

Yeah, I gotcha. Makes sense, but I'm not sure how well that would translate. I can imagine that when it's in your hands, for sure. After all, you can always swap out the electronics if you don't like them, but if the actual build sucks, there isn't much you can do about that.

"you can always swap out the electronics" -
anyway those guitar are amazing. I just believe they are not shooting uplugged video - because that would prove it is on par with Fender Custom Shop tele ))
And as a proud owner of Fender Custom SHop 66 strat with Blackmore mods by his former tech I know what I am talking about
