Who holds on to someone's nasty azz used leggings for 30 years? Dey was trifling all the way back when too..... biggrin I mean, you leave ya sht at my place and don't come get it, I toss it TF out. I don't sit on it hoping to turn a buck some day. Fame is a monster!

Sadder to see an ex-fiance selling personal items such as a marriage proposal and love tokens. And the lower prices don't seem to justify the sellout. No wonder P always kept people at a distance...no trust.

To be honest I'm rather appalled by this action. For me, if it was your stuff and you wanted to auction it off, that's your business, but how are people ok with auctioning off stuff that clearly doesn't seem to have belonged to them? I mean a handwritten note TO Prince from Bono? That's not your note. Are you trying to say, Prince gave that note to you? I'm willing to go out on a limb and say... ok, maybe he did give somebody his shoes and that lacy black crop top; but come on, his handwritten items? The handwritten draft script for Under The Cherry Moon, how does that belong to anyone other than Prince or his estate, as well as all the other Prince handwritten items (i.e. an acceptance speech, the Lovesexy tour book essay)? I think it's morally repugnant to sell the items if you procured them in any form or fashion that was not on the up and up and the items should be given to the estate for display at PP. 61W-ySqR4jL.jpg

Thanks for that, so it's probable Prince filled it in then? I was surprised he still had the long hair, he must have cut it afterwards for the shortened Dirty Mind look. It was like it was more natural, he had stopped perming it and it was just natural long hair?

.

To be at those shows though, I mean wow. Has anyone here been to a Fire It Up concert, if so, please tell us as I want to live it in my dreams.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Why is this award below presented to Susannah and not Prince?

Description

Official RIAA flower hologram-style gold sales award presented "to Susannah Melvoin to commemorate the sale of more than 1,000,000 copies of the Paisley Park Records single record 'Kiss.'"

YES.
Just LOOK at that face.
No wonder the girls in high school would scream, "PRINCE!!!" When he bobbed up the hoop court, and Sharon said they always knew he was special.

YES. WHY?
I don't get this.
And is Susannah the one auctioning a marriage proposal from P?
I could find that.
Anyone have a photo?

And my! Why would anyone do this? Wouldn't you want to keep those things until your old age? Or give them to the Estate?
If I were absolutely destitute, I still doubt I could do it.
Maybe there's a reason we don't know of.

Half of me feels it's okay for some things to be out there, among the fans. I think Prince would be okay with that now.

If you have a credit on a record (engineer, bgvs, songwriter) you're eligible to get one of these. I think you have to pay for them. At least, I think you have to pay like to $200 for a grammy. Pretty sure this is the same.

Could be that she was considered a member of the revolution on this.

It's not really a proposal, it was note card clues or hints or something.

Back in the day, you didn't have to pay for platinum, gold or silver discs. In the UK, that all changed a good while ago. I co-produced a track on an album that went gold nearly 10 years ago and enquired about getting a gold disc for it - and was told I had to pay for it. I didn't bother pursuing it any further.

Same with a few friends of mine and a GRAMMY. I Probably would have done it though...

Didn't realize paying for them was a recent thing! Damn.

How much were they asking you to pay?

Lovejunky

and then there is this !

http://www.ebay.com.au/it...SwzaJX2sRK

$3950 USD

Originally purchased at a garage sale in Minnesota in the 1980's along with Purple Rain

Looks like its a thing to sell a GOld Record that Prince obviously gifted you, back in the day

and from what we have come to know of him,

Its unlikely that Either Susannah or Chick bought these for themselves

If these were mine, I would like to think that I would keep them

but I guess some people are struggling financially so much that Dollars

are NEEDED more than the sentimental attachments

The garage sale surprises me, but selling one or two doesn't. They also might have been free back then. Well, I take that back. Prince probably still paid for them, but they were probably gifted by Warner Brothers from Prince's sales.

They all probably have others. Susannah probably has others still. She may even have another of "Kiss" for a different certification.

Honestly, I wouldn't want one for a track I didn't even sing on. Ultimately, they're something kinda weird that you have to either make wall space for or put into storage or give away.
