This sounds almost EXACTLY like Freeze-Frame by The J. Geils Band and somehow it really, really works because it's A.) Catchier than that song and B.) Has waaaaaay cooler instrumentation

I'm loving it! It almost tows the line as being a Vanity 6 song, but thos horns bring it back to Prince's home.

The vocal melody is something people would chant at concerts, had this been released back in the day. Could defintly see this on a 1999 pt II

You can sing Let's Go Crazy on this, it fits pretty well i think.

I like silly Prince as much as I like serious Prince.

Pretty sure that's probably what inspired the sound... and then ultimately why it was shelved. Also that Adam Ant "Goody Two Shoes" vibe. Formula: retro 50's rock song structures done with early 80's synth voices ?

And THIS is an example of a song that does NOT sound like a typical Prince song. There are many out there, just shows his diversity. If someone heard this without Prince on vocals they would bet good money it was not Prince. imo.

YES! Why didn't I think of Adam Ant?! I think this song was shelved because I can't picture it fitting anywhere (even as a B-Side)

You know, a lot of people like to speak badly of Eye Records, but I'm diggin' them a hell of a lot more than Prince's family. We've gotten a lot of cool Prince outtakes, soundboard recordings, DVDs, etc... through Eye Records over the years that we wouldn't have had otherwise. Thank you, Eye Records!!!
