the unreleased Prince IMAX concert movie A prince IMAX concert movie was filmed, but never released. I believe it was the Act 2 tour, and the release was canceled because the Love Symbol album didn't sell as well as expected. Somebody needs to figure out how to get this released in a limited run or somethign at the IMAX theaters and then on HDR 4k Blu Ray. [Edited 8/10/17 18:10pm]

I think you might be thinking of the Musicology show that played in theatres opening night. Maybe it was slated for an IMAX release originally.
Having said that I remember Prince playing footage from an ACT 2 show at the 1st celebration in the Love 4 One Another room. It looked professionaly filmed & he was just slaying the bass in it.

As Michael Jackson would say... "Why is he (Prince) playing the bass in my face like that?!" __________________________________________________

No, there is an unreleased Prince IMAX concert movie from the Love Symbol era. It never played in theaters. One of the people involved posted about it years ago. I'm not sure if it was on here or on alt.music.prince.

I think this needs to proved.
100's of low rent videos shot in his bedroom. Yes. An IMAX movie. No.

Proved how? I remember reading about it. It's been at least a decade, and possibly 2, since I read it. They filmed it, editied it, but canceled the release because the album didn't do as well as expected. I can't be the only one who remembers this.

"I remembered reading about it". Ladies and Gentlemen, goodnight.

Not "remembered," but rather "remember". I haven't forgotten it since I first read it because I've wanted to see it ever since I read about it. It was either posted on this site or the alt.music.prince usenet group by someone who was involved in the project. I didn't make it up. This is from back in the day before feature movies were shown in IMAX, but during a period where concerts were filmed in IMAX to be shown in the smaller number of IMAX theaters than exist today. I can't 100 percent recollect but I asked Morris Hayes afterwards if this was going to be released & he gave me the "you never know" answer. I actually think it might of been a rare Bass breakdown during "She's Always In My Hair". It was definately one of those goosebump moments only p could create right on the spot. I remember being floored & having him in the same room watching it with us was both madddening (because he didn't play) & exhilarating that we were just hanging with him at his home. Filiming a concert movie with true IMAX cameras is quite an undertaking and expensive; I think the Rolling Stones did it; I think there might've been some confusion over what could be shown in an IMAX theatre vs. being shot with IMAX cameras.

It's been done several times that were released and this one that wasn't released. The posts about it that I remember talked specifically about the impact of watching Prince on the IMAX screen when viewing an edit of the concert. It's been a long time, I wish I could find the post.
