So am I the only one who feels that Strays of the World should have been included on the album as the album´s last song like it was supposed to be? TrivialPursuit, what do you think? What made you decide against adding it to your alternative version of the Come album? Just curious... I know the song is not that popular among orgers but I love it and it irks me that it wasn´t included. Sure, it would sound a bit out of place but you can tell that it was meant to be on that album even though it was also written for a possible musical. I am not sure how it would have fit on the Come album, but agree that the song is under-appreciated here. I think part of Prince's appeal was how he was so different that he just didn't fit in the mainstream. So, I always interpreted the song to be his reaching out to other "strays" like him and some of us. It really was one of the most warm hearted songs he ever performed. However, this is why it doesn't seem to fit into the colder and harder Come album IMO.

Yep... Very much two sides of the same coin.
I find Come to be more cohesive than TGE. It's also not over-produced - I think Prince had it in his head that TGE was supposed to be this big grandiose statement, and so songs like "Endorphinmachine" suffer from over-production, whereas that didn't happen with the "Come" songs. Well put, but there is not a song on Come that I would drop. His "contract filler" albums during this period are all great and unfairly maligned by critics and some fans.

I agree that it is a very underrated album. The horn arrangements on this album are masterful and his vocals are excellent. "Dark" is a masterpiece, plain and simple. My favorite tracks are "Dark," "Come," and "Papa." I like "Papa" because it is raw, powerful, and reflective. The album as a whole is very reflective. . I wonder if critics gave the album lousy reviews because was, shall I say, abrasive during this period of his career/life. He was or TAFKAP. He didn't make it easy for people to talk about him. He wrote "slave" across his face. He was feuding with Warner Brothers. I was a kid in the 90s and I thought he was a weirdo because he changed his name to and wrote "slave" across his face, and I think that much of the general public in the USA felt the same way. Also, Come does not measure up to albums like PR or SOTT, so Come will therefore be inherently disappointing because it was not as good as /Prince's best material. This whole album fascinates me. I agree it was under rated. Each time I listen to it I find something else that I really appreciate. Solo doesn't creep me out, it just feels so raw and honest. I don't kmow what it is about Prince, but it feels like once life hits you in a certain place, one of his lyrics suddenly makes sense, where it didn't before. Add to that his ability to combine the emotion with the music, it is mind blowing.

It is indeed.
In my opinion not only is it his most underated album, it actually has aged best out of all the 90's albums. Even though TGE may have more standout quality songs... Overall COME has aged better and still has lasted all the years... Many of the productions from TGE, EMANCIPATION has not aged as well as COME. I agree about the production. Most of the songs sound like they are from the 90s, but do not sound dated. I wonder if the prominence of the horn arrangements on Come has prevented the album's production from sounding dated. To the best of my knowledge, horn arrangements were not a common feature of mid-90s popular music. I also feel that the horn arrangements add some depth to the album and make the mid-90s production subtler than the mid-90s production on TGE and Emancipation. . Well, except that he didn't write it... the words, anyway. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

. While I agree it ain't that "dark" (even, or especially actually, the song "Dark")... . "Masterpiece"? . I'm all for a variety of opinions, but calling Come a "masterpiece" sort of redefines the generally accepted meaning of the word. . Even if you think it's a good album. . (Which it's not.) I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

. I mean they're good words, Prince certainly tries to give them a deeply-felt interpretation. Personally I don't like the song (I find it borderline unlistenable), I think the words actually function better on page than sung the way P sings them. I find his delivery on that one too florid. For my tastes. Too fussed over. . I don't mind at all that the song is depressing, if that's part of the "dark" component being discussed. But the album is a such a depressing mess, the song (IMO) emphasizes the weakness of the album overall. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

. I think "Strays" would've improved the album significantly had it been included. Along with "Dark" it would've been my favorite on the album. I think "Strays" is flat-out brillliant. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

well Nona was badder than Apps imho Talent wise? Obviously. But in a completely leering and horn dogging way, Appollonia is kind of a no brainer, inn'it? Not talking smarts either. Geez. Wish the org had a registered (member) voting option for polls. That would at least make the threads worthwhile - considering P is no longer of this domain [*and yes, "Dark" is fantastic, "pheromone" is lurid and horny but great as well, letitgo is pretty good too...the SONG come is pretty dull and useless. Prince must have thought well of "Dark" because he put the remix, "So Dark," on Crystal Ball and played "Dark"/"So Dark" during live shows in 2013, 2014, and 2016. According to Prince Vault, "Dark" is the only song from Come that he performed after 1997. Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above

U no.....i just noticed through a brief search and peek. ..that neither one of them gals has much booty. .....handles so to speak. But fortunately a Google search for nona gayes body brought me to the visuals of what looks like a high finance call girl named Demi Rose....good God almighty Anyways. Just to be on topic. DARK was one of my favorite Prince songs, until i determined myself to avoid that gutteral pain and negativity for a while. (*after a bad falling out, I'd spun that along with stuff like Donny's "giving up", Jeff Buckley 's tunes etc. ..a bad diet of consuming depression) .. That said. It's not a strong album. not even on just giving "different facets" like P always did. (I HATE using this past tense)....it's just a pretty good Prince album. Damn near every album he did WAS great. What if... we add Interactive, Endorphine Machine, What's My Name and There Is Lonely and perhaps Strays Of The World. I know, There Is Lonely might be not part of the album, but i for one believe it has the sound and it fits with the Come vibe.

That´s why I said it would feel a bit out of place musically in my previous post. The motto or title of the album is repeated at the end of the song Strays of the World. You can hear the invitation "Come!" uttered at the very end of the song, and in my opinion it completes the album and expands the slogan Come, taking it to a more spiritual level and giving the album somewhat of a concept, making it more cohesive and fuller. "Solo" is a beautiful one, the DJ Hani has remastered his epic 90s remixes of that tune and they are on the webs in their heavy bass glory. The highs and lows of his vocal range and the delivery are haunting. I fell back in love with this one. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2
