Totally agree. I wouldn't be able to afford that and I'm not your average fan. +1 As awesome as it sounds an 80 cd set would be overwhelming and would take possibly years to properly digest. I would prefer more frequent, smaller releases. That aside there are some things missing from the poll i would have liked included for consideration - mostly a cd/dvd box set of the P & M shows at PP from Jan '16 that kicked off his last tour. And i agree with the frustration of others who already mentioned the inability for each orger to vote for two favorites. But hey it's fun nevertheless to participate in any capacity. So thanks for that! It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Release it all please. Dont worry about catalogueing. We'll do it all for you, for free! That way we can contribute to Prince's legacy too. Which is something we'd all be proud of

how about dress shirts with buttons... or ties (either subtle symbols or Pasily like the Around The World In a Day LP label (or like the back ground of the UK single for Paisley Park) "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

1) Prince's final show at Atlanta, Live Album. This is a no-brainer really. According to the man himself, Prince was working on releasing this show. And as his last live performance, this show will forever have a mythic status and should be released for its historical significance alone. Not to mention, it's an absolutely stunning performance. Prince at his best.
2) A live DVD of the Paisley Park Piano & Microphone shows. There are plently of live DVDs I would like to see released (Montruex 2009, Montruex 2013 with 3rdeyegirl, First Avenue, any potential Pro-shot concerts from the One Nite Alone Tour), but this one is the most fitting to release first, for the same reasons Prince's final show at Atlanta should be released. If I were in charge I would give the control to Prince fans. It would work like this...
1) The Estate should firstly catalogue all the material.
2) The Estate should then publish an interactive timeline off all of Princes work. This includes released and unreleased material.
The timeline could be a pretty creative way of displaying all of Princes work (with cool animations and graphics) and probably best way of exploring the eras, myriad of material and extensive back catalogue. Fans will be able to expand information on discography etc. to get an idea of the history and flavour of unreleased stuff in the vault (possibly with raw sound snippets of tracks)
3) The timeline should let fans vote which pieces of work or albums should be released next...the voting process should be transparent.
4) The Estate should then follow through with the consesus with the votes recieved and then provide confirmation which pieces of work will be released next and when.
5) Fans should then be able to purchase the music/videos digitally or in physical format. The physical format should be designed in such a way as you slowly collect all the CDs and stack them along a bookshelf it looks really cool e.g the spines of all the CDs has a hidden message or graphic.
6) For hardcore Prince fans they should offer a subscription service where physical and digital copies are auto delivered as and when material slowly gets released.
Princes timeline could look something like this (am sure there are web designers who could create a cool clickable interactive Prince timeline):

I was just reminded of something else that needs to be released soon and I personally think would sell like hotcakes. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

This could be a good idea.

Thanks. I believe that anything tied to the WB era, will be difficult to release especially after Sharon Nelson's resonse in the Interview thread. I think Vault material that is released by the Heirs and Estate, will more than likely be after the WB era that is "free and clear" of any contracts.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Even that may not be all free and clear. There were other deals made over the years since WB. Tidal comes to mind.

For audio - a Piano & Microphone concert and (if the roumors were true) Hit & Run Phase 3 or preferably Black is the New Black. sell it as per the current trend of digital or vinyl with digital download.
Or Visual - Montreux (any of them) and a Piano & Microphone concert.
Back cattalogue wise - a Neil Young style archives would be a good thing. To do it fully the releases would be huge and cost a bomb so would not sell partiularly well.

Sadly, you are right. I was being too optimistic.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
My two things that I would like to have released or see release rather, would be the First Avenue Benefit Concert from 83 and the Piano and Microphone show/tour from Paisley Park be release on CD/DVD release. All of course on HD.

Prince did so much I think he needs a box set for every year. Prince - 1986 etc. Everything he recorded in 1986 that wasn't released. DVD's of the Parade shows. DVD's of any after shows. Everything he released in 1986.

anoxicblaze I think you're right. I think that would be the only way to really organize and capture everything he did.

1. Piano and Microphone show (soundboard) I would like to hear voice, music and things said to audience, not someone yelling - the best version possible whether it is the show on 1/21 or on tour.
2. Jazz album he was working on or one in the vault.
Available on all formats, since everyone has their favorite.
Thank you Sharon for doing the interview. It was very thoughtful of you to take the time out to answer questions.

1 thing: A complete listing of all vault tracks, concert recordings, etc (title and short description) . I guess such a listing does not yet exist so asking for stuff is moot. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

. Puhlease! When it comes to (very) recent material them recordings should be easy to find, easy to 'master' and easy to monetize. So have them release all piano gigs. If they don't then they will never ever release 50% of the vault. . All gigs of each tour or whatever they called it. Same for video. Same for all songs, per project or per year. . Don't they really understand that time is money?! Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'm going to go with... 1) nothing... and 2) nothing... from the Vault anyway... . If it was out before in some form (broadcast, VHS, laserdisc, etc) then put it back in print if possible. Detroit '86, Dortmund '88 etc. . Keep the vault vaulted, that's my vote. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

. Because? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
. Because I don't think unfinished work and/or work not specifically earmarked for release should be released. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Hate to sound pessimistic, but I don't think we'll hear anything from the estate anytime soon. Doubt anything (official) will see the light of day before this years out. Hope to be proven wrong though.
