Wally. The re-recording misses out a whole chunk where he's asking Wally if he can borrow $50. It's awesome.

.
All of these have seen official release. I did, however, broaden the definition to include associated artist releases, and allowing guide-vocal (e.g., 'Open Book') takes, always intended for another artist, to qualify as an 'unreleased version'. |

OLD FRIENDS FOR SALE - even though I generally enjoy Fisher's orchestrations, here the orchestration seems to crush this intimate song, with synth lines that are much more eerie and foreboding.
STRANGE RELATIONSHIP - not radically different to the released version, but I prefer the sitar intro, which underlines the, ermm, strangeness.
SOMETHING IN THE WATER - the computer bleeps in the released version seem too disconcerting to me, distracting from the melody (even though that was probably Prince's intent). Also, unfortunately, to convey discord, Prince probably threw out the harmonically warm piano that was found in the unreleased version.

These three, specially OF4S the released version is shit compared to the unreleased great version. I love the SITW released version but the unreleased piano version is just amazing and powerful. |

"The Dance Electric" with Wendy, Lisa and god-blessed tons of guitar! The Prince-only version is fine, but I just wish it had the guitar that the Wendy and Lisa version has. Some scorching, way cool stuff on that. I wonder why they chose the version with no guitar for the 'Purple Rain' deluxe edition. |
