I've always thought this one was pretty straightforward.

It means sometimes in life the unusual or unexpected can happen, and it's not always for the best.

And that just as spring is supposed to have sprung, winter can still pinch. That when you thought you were through the worst, the worst can still affect you.

Quite a simple song, yes.

I think we should go deeper and discuss the meaning of

"La, la, la, he, he , hee

I want U, U want me"

Same reason why Life Can Be So Nice cuts off so abruptly at the end.

Treat every day like it's your last, because you never know when you might get shot whilst attempting to elope with a rich bald bloke's daughter.

blah blah blah

As soon as I found out that Prince died I immediately went outside and listened to that song on my headphones. It's so surreal that he died in April and 31 years to the day after "Sometimes It Snows In April" was recorded. Not to be morbid or anything, but has it ever been determined when he was found in the elevator whether it was on an upper floor? You'd hope it was, for the sake of the sentiment of "Let's Go Crazy".

I always thought it was about somebody's good friend dying and how bad it hurts. Perhaps I'm too simple lol It's my all time favorite Prince song.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Just to explain the metaphor a bit: Spring is the time of new life in nature, but if there is a late snowfall, a cold snap as sometimes happens, it can kill off the new life just starting to emerge.

.

The point is obviously that Christopher Tracy was young and full of life, exuberance and had just found new love, both of which are ended too early at the end of the film.

Live in Minnesota. Get a few warm days so you think it's spring. Then it snows. After months of it snowing. Think about how that would make you feel. That's what the song is about.

Also, starting the exact same thread after the mods lock your other one is a good way to get yourself banned. Then, it'll REALLY be snowing in April.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
