I always loved this song but this take sit up another notch.

Nice take on the song, good to have it, but I still prefer the 3:23 take leaked many year ago (Moonraker's "Fantasia").

That sounds full and more accomplished than this one.

Let me first say this...Until about 7 hours ago, as long as I've been a Prince fan and an active member of THIS and NUMEROUS other Prince fan community sites...I swear on everything I hold dear that I'd never heard this version...nor any other version of this song.

However, since then I have gone exploring the world wide web and now I can see exactly WHY and HOW, it's CLEARLY gone under my radar for so long. BECAUSE...if this version had happened...

There is no fucking way in bloody hell that THIS...

would have EVER occured!!!!

Iirc Prince loved what Kid Creole and the Coconuts did with the song. Prince and Kid Creole were good friends also. I loved this song back in the day even before I knew Prince wrote it.

I honestly don't know...so that's about as true to me as anything else that's been said about Prince since April 21, 2016.

All I do know purely from listening to Prince's version that I heard for the very first time today...is KCatC's version shouldn't have NEVER happened.

Kid Creole was actually was second prefered artist during some years in the 80s, and it was super exiting to hear about the collaboration. However i never got well into this song, it's one of Creole's weaker singles.

Kid Creole, well he had 1 minor hit that was good "Oh Annie im not your Daddy".

A pop/disco/calypso song, I love The Sex Of It, great track.

I'm really not trying to diss on Kid Creole. But being a person that only heard this song at all, just a couple of days ago...all I'm trying to say is...

This song SHOULD have been officially released...as I just heard it...by Prince! Along with a

"label funded" music video of Prince performing it!

The Sex of it came out in 1990 so if Prince had released it it likely would have sounded the very same, all Graffiti Bridge era bells and whistles and a T.C. Ellis rap on it. We'd still be digging out the bootleg marvelling at how much better the earlier version was.
