I hope he aint dissing prince.
I like what i've seen of him.

He came on at 'The Roots' gig in London during their peformance of 'The Seed'. He came to the front of the stage and held his guitar aloft. I guess you had to be there, but it was too cool. I gotta get my hands on his lp!
"London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"

"YEAH!!!"

"Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

Eh...

Stop promoting Cody Chestnutt!

I understand that sometimes an artist's label PR Team go to message boards to do so secretly..

Spamming for entertainers is becoming ridiculous now!

All these fools are gonna do is go to Kazaa and grab this song without paying..

If Cody was legitimate, he wouldn't mention anyone he would be compared to.

Its already taken this long for his CD to get a release.. He needs to focus on himself and his own identity.

I tell ya...

These darn neo-soulers think they can talk about established artist like Prince just because they: put on a funky hat, grow a 'fro, and "moan" like Stevie Wonder.

He's probably sitting around blunt while listening to "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" for ideas (like others we know...)

I don't mean to be in your business, but when you say "moan" like Stevie Wonder...please tell me you're not referring to this as a bad thing. Also, who specifically "moans" like him?

It's only a bad thing if the one doing the moaning isn't Stevie Wonder..

I wish to see Stevie live.

I said Stevie...

I'm just tired of folks trying to be "The 70's Soul Throwback Savior of the week".

They are really taking advantage of the fact that there are less bands of musicians and more "Studio Track Producers.."

Do you REALLY expect people to listen to you after that statement??? evillol disbelief Don't get me wrong, I like Cody to a degree, but he ain't got shit on Prince & probably never will. Don't be so impressed just b/c he picks up a guitar & sings about his dick... neutral
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Oh okay...I feel exactly what you're saying. Everyone is hyping them up like they are...geniuses, but if you take away the fro's, crystals and stones, and afro-centric clothes you just have another hip-hop artist like Jay-Z or Nas. smile

Im not impressed because he sings about his dick I am impressed by his arrangements and his quirkyness which is what I like about prince is the quirkyness and the genious of his arrangements and lyrics

Codys voice is as good as prince but he isnt trying to be Prince or like him he just kind of is and I think that his first album reflects the High quality of his artistry and is acctually much better than the work of other comparable atrist first albums and equal to if not better than Princes, but quite OBVIOUSLY will take his life time to catch up wioth princes track record and back catalogue of music BUT he isnt much concerned with being like any one but himself

he isnt a throw back either or any knid of 'neo-soul' he is better than that and D'Angelo IF you've listened to :"The Headphone Masterpiece" you will find that his voice is quite perfect and he has a range and control and depth like princes voice, you can here his different voices on the album and it takes a couplelistens like princes stuff, when I first put it in I thought it was crap, but it grew and I re adjusted my stereo for less highs which you need to do or it will sound bad cause this entire album was rercorded with all its flaws in the recording as a test to the greatness and quality of the artistry, It was recorded in his bedroom for christ sake. His voice is quite beautiful and lulling

Please, the cat's album was BOORING and he needed the Roots to wake his pretentious butt up.

To paraphrase Jodie Foster in "Silence Of The Lambs": if that's true, he covets what he disses, every day.

The headphone masterpiece is definitely false advertising. i listened to it a total of 2 times. A few ok songs and a lot of straight up junk. Just because u can record a lo-fi album in your bedroom does not make it great. He's no where near being in Prince's league. Anyone who thinks he is really is clueless when it comes to talent. And he needlessly uses foul words in his lyrics. Real talent can make even foul words fun. Talent on his level just makes it trashy.
